Really a great place if you're on a tight budget (all you backpackers out there!).
The rooms are extremely clean. AC works perfectly (and you need AC in Rome). The shower is better than a shower you'll find at a 4 star hotel! That was my favorite part of the room. And trust me that when you walk outside all day in the heat, you want a shower that works perfectly when you come back to your room.
The staff is very friendly and often asks if everything is fine. Breakfast is simple but good. They make a great cappuccino! The place is a bit far from the center if you plan on walking but all the buses pass in front of the hotel.
There is a delicious little gelateria 10 seconds away from the hotel and (oddly enough) a really good Greek fast food place right around the corner. Explore the streets around the hotel because although they are very quiet, there are lots of little restaurants and food joints around.
I would defintely go back if I wanted to stay at a place in a more quiet neighborhood!

We neither loved nor disliked the Piave. All things considered our stay was definitely more positive than negative, but we probably wouldn't stay again for the minor conveniences it did not have.
On the positive side: The hotel is very nicely maintained and decorated, from the cool floors in the hallway to the breakfast room to the rooms and bathrooms. The staff is very nice. (Other reviews mentioned the woman serving breakfast not being pleasant, but I could not disagree more. She was a bit shy, but totally nice when engaged in conversation!) The room was small, but we had a toddler with us; I think the size would have been absolutely fine for 2 people only. The bed was comfortable, the TV worked well, and the bathroom was very new looking and nicely tiled. Breakfast buffet was small, but with good variety, and fresh. Both the fresh brioches and the fresh fruit were welcome treats each morning. We liked the neighborhood; it felt very local and the bus to Termini picks up a block away. The Trattoria Cadorna around the corner had good service and absolutely delicious and plentiful pasta dishes.
Traveling with a small child was both the most positive and one of the negatives of the hotel. The small room gave did not provide much space for him to move around and there was no refrigerator in the room which was difficult in terms of providing our son with his regular meal and beverage schedule. BUT the staff was SO good to our son and so accommodating to us and our needs. They let us use their fridge and even provided us with milk twice a day (outside of breakfast hours) so we wouldn't have to worry about buying it. In addition, the hotel provided a travel crib in excellent condition at no additional cost. The Piave is most definitely a child friendly place!
The biggest negative other than that just expressed was the air conditioning. It did not work well at all. We decided to stay in the room one afternoon to rest and escape the Roman heat, and though the air was turned on to full blast, I was actually sticky from the heat in the room. It did not matter how long the air ran or what setting it was on: the temperature bordered on uncomfortable. Another negative (picky, I know) was in the bathroom: looks great, but not completely functional. There was only space to hang one bath towel, and the shelf above the sink is curved: pretty, but not big enough for two people's toiletries because everything on the curved side slides down. The shower head was a bit blocked so water pressure and direction of spray was not the best. There were also sudden changes in temperature if water was used elsewhere. 3. The coffee at breakfast wasn't particularly good. After two tries, we skipped it all together. Finally, there was a big armoire in the room, but no drawers, so we had to live out of our suitcases.
As I said earlier, except for the problem with the air conditioning, all the other "negatives" are minor, and the hotel met our needs for this trip. Taken all together, however, we would not return.

  • Liked — extremely child friendly
  • Disliked — non-functioning air conditioning

We booked Hotel Piave as the reviews on the web were good. However I'm sad to say we had a rather unpleasant stay overall. The room was very small but fine and the owner was very sweet and jolly with my bad Italian as was the other concierge, so I am sad to have to give this straight report. A couple of days our room was not cleaned and when we inquired as to the reason we were treated very aggressively by staff which was extremely upsetting. The staff were consistently sullen and confrontational at breakfasts with all the guests which created a bad atmosphere. Rome is a very expensive location for travellers with prices that do not tend to reflect quality from the experience of friends and family so we weren't expecting much. As a quietly spoken professional couple we were very upset at our experience. I would love to recommend this hotel for the owner but am afraid it would be an overall thumbs down sadly.

We stayed at The Albergo Piave for a week and found it to be very clean and all we needed as a base in Rome. We had a double room which was two large singles zipped together and the bathroom had an excellent shower. Breakfast is standard continental fare but it was always fresh and you could eat as much as you wanted. Tomaso the night porter was very welcoming and was a bit of a character. we would agree with some other reviewers that the ladies who do the breakfast aren't the most congenial but who is at 7.30am! There were lots of restuarants within 5 minutes walk of the hotel and we would recommend Al Forno della Soffita on Via Piave, Henry Cow on Via Flavia and Il Restaurantino on Via Saint Tullio. We walked everywhere except to the Vatican and the number 62 bus at the end of the road took us straight there for 1 euro each. We would happily stay here again.

I stayed for a night....our room was not ready at 11 am so we were politely asked to wait..but seeing the room we were happy and found it worth..it was clean decorated and tidy...

the entrance is a bit rusty , the lift shaky but hotel is good enough....The staff was helping and the lady at breakfast table was a bit strange especially at the back of the guests

...The hotel is a cosy hotel and at this price quite good deal...
