We arrived at the hotel, extremely tired from a long flight. We were "greeted" by a grumpy hotel attendant who rudely gave us the keys to our room. As soon as we walked through the doors of the hotel room, it reeked like a smoke-filled Vegas Casino & it had dirty, yellow-stained, peeling wallpaper. (We are both non-smokers and had specifically asked for a non-smoking room) The hotel attendant told us that no rooms were available that night.--they would see what they could do the following day.

That night we came back after dinner & there was a sign at the front desk that said "Ask hotel clerk about tours of Rome". So, we asked the hotel clerk and he stared at us dumbfounded & said he did not understand. I pointed to the sign beside him & he said he did not know about any tours.

The next morning we went for breakfast at 9:30 (breakfast was served until 10 am). We were grumpy b/c we were on the 1st floor & there was some type of a convention going on that woke us up very early in the morning. As we walked to the breakfast room we had to pass through a waiting room, where there was about 100 people smoking in a tiny room. As we walked through the crowd to the breakfast room.. I thought I would be ill inhaling the fumes. When we got inside, there was no food or eating utensils to be seen, except for a few revolting hard boiled eggs. We then had to cross back through the smoke-filled reception room again to get to the front desk. We explained the problem to the hotel attendant (a different one than the night before & from when we checked in).. He said, "I don't understand what you're saying". I made a hand gesture of eating out of bowl and he still could not understand what I was trying to say. We finally were able to explain the problem & the hotel attendant said, "This is impossible!" -(-He suddenly spoke fluent english with us.) I said "No, really, there's no food, and nothing to eat out of." After minutes of back & forth the situation was finally resolved. I was one hungry, smoke-infested, cranky, sleepless person that morning. I aslo had to take another shower after breakfast b/c I smelled like smoke. All in-all, we give a rating of "terrible" Oh-! & it's a twenty minute walk to the subway station.. it's also uphill on the way back from the subway station..perfect, after a long day of sightseeing.

We have just returned from 5 days in Rome, here's my two cents for anyone who falls into this freaking Mafia Oly Hotel trap in Rome, Italy.
1- The location of this Hotel is in middle of NO-Where and not to mention that the hotel in situated in the farthest away unsafe neighborhood

2- the rooms are dirty, smelly, small and having a super dirty bathrooms

3-The front desk is rude and money hungry, all they want is your EUROS

4- DO not trust the Hotel to recommend you any in-city or outer-city tours.

5-The Hotel maid and staff are lousy and less than helpful

6- The breakfast is a big fat joke: a few old and moldy cakes with overly old coffee...

Save yourself a headache and get a Hotel near city even if it's 1 star Hotel and don't ever think about staying at OLY.

This Hotel is clean but shabby,[gruby walls,broken ceiling tiles etc] The breakfast is fine especially if you like cake first thing !
All in all we were comfortable enough in the Hotel.
The problem is the location.You have a 15/20min walk to the metro through a fairly run down area,you then have up to 30mins on the metro to get to the main attractions.[which seem all to be a further 20mins walk.]Quite a trek before you even begin a day of sight-seeing.This however is not the worst aspect,that comes in the evening.You either have to repeat the journey to find bars/restaurants or put up with the local amenities ie the canteen like Hotel,one ok local resaurant or one tatty snack bar.
If,like us one of the great pleasures of foreign travel is an evening walk,a glass of wine at a pavement cafe,and a romantic dinner,then the Oly is a total dead loss.
We felt cheated of some of Romes best experiences because our tour company Riviera use such a badly located Hotel.

This was a nice little hotel to stay in. I was in Rome on business so being close the main tourist attractions wasn't too important. The hotel is fairly clean and the staff friendly enough. I never actually got round to having dinner here but breakfast is similar to the other hotels, in that they normally serve cold meats with cheese. Many of the other hotels in Rome are a lot more expensive, however an many cases you are paying for location rather than service.

All in all a nice hotel.
