This hotel was clean but breakfast was a little disappointing, we had to wait for more cakes, cheese and ham. We were with Riviera Travel and were told we could not eat in the room where the Italians ate for breakfast. After a rather heated discussion, we were eventually allowed to! We reported this to reception who seemed surprised and sympathetic. They clearly could not cope with the number of guests for breakfast .We had to pay 20 Euros for the pool which I thought was rather steep for a quick swim.

We stayed for three nights at Hotel Oly earlier this month. Whilst the rooms etc were fine we were dismayed to be told that we would have to pay 20Euros each per day if we wanted to use the pool!!!!
I've never heard of such a thing - all we wanted was a quick swim after busy and hot days out and about in the city - we didn't want to use all the fitness suite etc.
Took the edge off our stay.

We stayed at The Oly Hotel for 6 nights in September and would really struggle to find anything to fault it on. The room was well decorated and very clean, with useful welcome packs (toilletries, sewing kit etc) in the bathroom. The safe (hidden away in the wardrobe) was free to use which was surprising. The bedding was literally changed every day, and even when the the Do Not Disturb sign was left on in the morning, when we went out in the afternoon they came in and changed it then. The staff were all exceptionally polite and helpful (even the cleabers regularly gave us a buongiorno!) and this extended after our stay when we realised that we had left clothes in the wardrobe. Upon enquiring, the clothes were still there and they were parcelled up for us ready for a courier to collect.

The breakfast (something most people prior to us have criticised in these reviews) was what you would expect on the continent, cold meats, eggs, cheese, croissants, cereal etc etc and was fine considering it was included in the price.

Overall, the only two things you might consider criticising are the location (it is a -10 minuts stroll from Basilica San Paolo metro station, 4 stops from the Colosseum) and a slightly rusty and discoloured air conditioning vent in the room. Other than that it was a really good experience and highly recommended.

Room and facilities perfectly adequate but air con did not seem to be effective.

Breakfast buffet rather disappointing - very watery juice and only tinned fruit. Coffee via a machine resulted in queues.
Opted for a set meal in hotel on first night - silver service of antipasta/pasta/meat/dessert +wine for E30 was enjoyable.
Several people ate at nearby restaurant on night 2.

Bus 156 stops near to hotel for central Rome but a long bumpy ride. Metro stop Basilica St Paul is several blocks away over rough ground. It meant we would stay in Rome all day and evening instead of coming back for a rest and refresh.

Tip: Do visit the Basilica St Paul - largest church in Rome and a lovely spacious, serene atmosphere.
