I stayed in Hotel De Mille with a group from my school for 4 nights. It was an interesting stay to say the least anyway! On the first night we discovered that there were no double locks and also that there were no shower floors (the shower floor wass the bathroom floor) except for one of our bedrooms. In our particular room we were lucky to have no bunk bed....not becasue we don't like bunkbeds but becasue the bunkbeds of the hotel in question didn't look the safest especially after find that one of them had broken and was held together with tape! Another room that some of the group had stayed in had the window stuck open so they were freezing every night! Now in the morning we had breakfast, it was fine except for the stale bread, what you would expect for a low cost hotel. The thrid night we found a cockroach in our room....... I was fine with everything else but that was disgusting.
On a more positive note our room was quite warm, and the water was lovely and warm for showers. And one of the staff members at least was polite. And the sheets seemed clean. we had a nice view from our window!Everything but the bedrooms seemed pretty enough. It is very central and a short distance from termini and the metro. The rooms were plain but practical although small.
If you're travelling late at night and arriving here get food before you arrive as they will refuse to give you food or water. Also note that some of the plugs may not work. Also if you like your towels soft and fluffy I would bring some as we got something similar to miniature bed sheets for towels. We had to climb 4 flights of stairs to get to our bed room as we didn't trust the lift too much (it stopped on the way down for two of my friends but luckily it started up again) what I'd actually do is throw your luagge into the lift then climb the stairs. The walls are like paper so pray you're not next to a happy couple! Do NOT trust the website, its the furthest from the truth! It says there are safes in every room but there isn't. And the rooms we stayed in were nothing like what they were like on the internet. Unless you like drying your hair with a eighties-hoover-like contraption bring your own hairdryer. Be cautious while taking a shower as ours flooded the bathroom...
However even with the dodgy hotel it didn't ruin my trip in the least, rome is so beautiful and you make do!
