“Decent and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Clean and comfortable, a little away from the city so taxis are not nearby but metro is a 15min walk away (pickpockets galore, as elsewhere in Rome). Good value. Breakfast was the weakest point and fared worse than any of the 5 hotels I'd stayed at during this trip.

The Aventino is a great place to stay. Communications with the hotel before I arrived were efficient and when we checked in the reception were really helpful and the process was speedy. The room itself had great character and was spotlessly clean. We forgot plug adapters but could charge our phone in the TV USB. The area is great, just a 15 minute walk to the Coliseum and Forum. Overall, for the price we paid I would give this 5 stars and would recommend to people who want a bit of character and a gorgeous setting for the right price.

Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. It is a quaint hotel. The rooms were clean and we had free wifi. The staff especially Justin was very helpful. The breakfast was good. The hotel is on a hill and walking uphill might be a problem for elderly travellers. Once on the main road, we caught bus 23 to the Vatican and tram 3 to the Colosseum. Would recommend this hotel if you want a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of Termini.

Stayed here for 5 nights and chose this hotel on reviews here. Whilst I agree with reviews with regard to the hotel itself, cleanliness, helpfulness of staff, good breakfast etc. I feel that I should warn travellers that the hotel is farther out from the centre than at least I thought. When it says on reviews that it is a 10 minute walk to Circo Massimo that is stretching it a bit and I am a fast walker and then you are only on the outskirts of the centre when you get there with a good bit further on to the the main sights in central Rome such as Trevi etc. As far as the Vatican I would not attempt it and get a cab.( When we stayed early November we had some very heavy rain showers and then you appreciate how far it is). I usually like to stay somewhere on a city break where I can step outside and get a feel of the city whereas quite frankly you could be anywhere in the Testaccio area. I also thought we would be able to stroll down to the Travestere area in the evening to dine at the lovely small restaurants but after attempting it the first evening we got a cab the other times. (In fairness the taxis that the hotel reception called for us were quite reasonable by city standards but it is something you need to factor for). Whilst the streets that surround the hotel are very nice consisting of a collection of upmarket villas once you descend the hill into Testaccio where the nearest shops are the area is quite urban and gritty and not much for the tourist. Yes Rome is very busy and it is nice to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle at times but If I return I will pick somewhere a bit closer in maybe across the river near the Vatican.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconys best.

Dear guest,
thank you for your positive feedback! Anyhow we would like to reinforce that we are on the Aventino hill, residential and exclusive neibourghood, really just 10 minutes walking from Circo Massimo subway station and other archeological sites, such as the Palatine and the Roman Forum. I understand that if you expected to be in the hustle and bustle all day, the location of our hotel is not suitable for you!
However we are happy you had a great Roman experience and we wish you a Happy New Year!

We stayed three nights at this hotel. It's in a quiet street with quite a suburban feel and doesn't take long to walk to all the main sights which was very handy. The room was very basic but it was clean and all we needed for our stay in Rome. The breakfast was very good and we were able to make sandwiches for our day out exploring. The one minor frustration was that the wifi did not work the whole time we stayed, not even the computer in the lobby worked, so we had to find a cafe with wifi to be able to book onward travel. Otherwise the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Dear Renata,
thank you for your positive feedback! We are very glad to learn that you loved the neiboughood and the staff of our hotel. We apologize if you during your stay we experienced some technical problems with the telephone company but it did not depend on us.
We hope you will come back very soon!

Nice little hotel in quiet location, 10 min walk to metro. We stayed there for 5 nights in October, though not in peak tourist season but the hotel seemed quite full. Wi fi quality was good. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast had a wide choices of food with fresh fruit offer every day.

We loved the hotel the first time - last year, also start of November.
We would not have imagined staying anywhere else - Aventino is our home in Rome!
The staff are friendly, the hotel is a house with a garden where, if you are lucky with the weather, you can have your breakfast or a glass of wine or coffee in the evening.
Easy access to any place in Rome as Circo Massimo (metro + multiple useful buses) is at 10 minutes' walk. Also Marmorata stop, where you can catch another useful bunch of buses.
We walked to the Colosseo almost every day as the walk is so pleasant.
The fantastic vista on top of the Aventino hill is 3 minutes away! Not to be missed. I could spend my afterlife just watching the world go by there.
Thank you all in Aventino!
We can only hope to be able to come and stay again,
Maya and dobrin
