There are a lot of good reasons to visit Rome, but the two most important are the true warm Roman enviromment and the food. In the heart of Rome I found this nice place, Hotel Flavia, a very clean hotel not too far from all the most beautiful masterpiece of the eternal city. The service was friendly and the breakfast very good, also I had a wonderful meals at Ristorante Barberini, a small family restaurant close the hotel, where I tested the autenthic Roman and Mediterrean flavours. Simply the best!
Anyway, I will back again in Rome without a doubt where to go..

Tony.

According to website and travel agency this hotel was recently renovated. Maybe...but not the room in which I stayed

- Furnishing was clumsy and out of date
- Wallpaper on wall near bathroom was blistering because of a leakage
- Small room , almost no daylight

+ Airco worked well
+ Quiet situated, no traffic noise
+ bed was ok for one person
+ shower was small but nice.

balanced: Not worth 3 stars / 190 euros per night

First I would like to note that this hotel is rated as a 2-star. We stayed at the hotel for 5 days, at the end of May 2007. The hotel is approximately a 10min. walk from the Termini Station. If you like to walk, like we do, you can spend the day walking to the Colliseum, and other sites from the hotel location. The Vatican I would recommend taking the bus, which you can catch at the Termini station and takes you directly to the vatican.
Front Desk: Helpfull. There seemed to be two regulars at the Front Desk. Once spoke some English, the other not much. My wife is Chinese and she had no problems communicating with them and found them to be very friendly. They were helpfull in providing us with local information.
Room: Small, but of course every hotel room in Europe seems to be. The room was very clean, and the tiled floor spotless. Bathroom had newer toilet, sink, shower. You had the option of satellite TV.
Breakfast Buffet: Friendly staff, great coffee, fruit, pasteries, buns.
For a two star hotel we really enjoyed our stay at the Flavia. Great restaurant and convenience store a few doors away. We would recommend this hotel to any of our friends.

  • Liked — Coffee and Lattes
  • Disliked — Smaller room than usual, but your never in the room except for sleeps anyways

My husband and I were in this hotel for three days. After that we were in another city for one night and we came back to this hotel again. We had made a reservation of duble room before long. At that time a man said to us that he didn't know why his co-worker had given
us one single room and his co-worker had writeen "single room!!!!" beside our first name. He showed us the document of room assignment. We checked the room, which his co-worker had gave us. It was too small for two people. We got angry and complained it, so the man gave
us one twin room and he gave two american two single room. It was Easter time, so the hotel was almost full. They chose us to give one single room for two people. It was proved by putting"!!!!" Because maybe we areJapanese. They knew us, because we had already stayed for three days before that. I wouldn't have complained it if they had given us two single room. This problem happened on April 5th.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights during our European tour. I'm reviewing all of the hotels on tripadvisor because it was through this website that I found all of our hotels and I will be eternally grateful. Here goes...

I like my hotels within walking distance to major sites and clean. We are not a high maintenance couple and very rarely awake in time for the free breakfast.

The Hotel Flavia is about a 12 minute walk from the train station (if you know where you are going). It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc. and about 25 minutes to the Colosseum. We even walked to the Vatican (I read alot of bad things about Rome's public transportation) and that took us about 45 minutes at a comfortable stroll (stopping in souvenior shops along the way). If you don't mind walking and enjoy following a map, the location is great (except for a bit of an uphill slope on the way back - take your time!)

The room was very clean. Nice spacious bathroom and a good shower. The 'double' bed was two singles pushed together but it's like that everywhere in Europe and it doesn't really bother us. There was a small tv with a few channels and even a fridge that we used to store some drinks and cheese.

I couldn't tell you about the breakfast - we never wake up in time for that - we are on vacation after all!

The Ministry of Defense is right down the road, so pay no attention to the guards with big guns. We also recommend you ask reception to hold onto your room key - we dubbed it 'the anchor' and my husband got a bruise on his thigh from it!

Overall if you want something cheap and close enough (if you're a walker) to the city, then go for it.

Goodluck and happy hotel hunting!

  • Liked — Very clean!
  • Disliked — View of an apartment complex!
