We have just returned from the Domus Mea in Rome. We were disappointed. The rooms were very basic, the dining tables covered in plastic sheeting, and the "bar" non- existant. Breakfast consists of a rock hard roll and awful jam ,with coffee (forget it). You have to take a rickety (2 person) cage type lift to get into the Hotel, which stars on the 5th floor of a residential block. Had it been cheap we could have understood but it was not.The only advantage was the location being near to the bus and train Station. There is also a nice little pavement cafe/bar around the corner called the Fantasy Pizza. It is a very welcoming little place. The breakfast there is great ,as is the full menu, with prices that are very reasonable and antipasta to die for!

I booked this place and told them I will pay with my credid card, but the hotel denied and scoled me with a loud voice.
The room was terribly small, it was like a misery storage. The TV did not work well. The shower did not work and I told the hotel so but they did nothing. Breakfast was hard, taste bad bread and coffee only, which was the worst in Italy.I will not recommend this place to everyone.

My wife and I stayed a number of nights recently in the Domus Mea Hotel in Rome. The rooms are basic but functional and clean. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The service of rooms was excellent. The area is quiet but well situated for transport around Rome. The only disadvantage was the breakfast provided. This consisted of tea/ coffee (neither of which was pleasant to drink), a bread roll and jam/butter and packaged bread. We preferred to have breakfast elsewhere after the first two days.

I wanted a cheap overnight stay because I had to leave very early the next morning, before breakfast. What I didn't know was the lift didn't operate before a certain time in the morning, and I had to lug my cases (now I know why it's called luggage) down 5 flights of winding stairs. Although I had booked an ensuite room, I had to share the outside bathroom with one other room (admittedly for a cheaper rate). This bathroom had a toilet, shower and small basin, very cramped and nowhere to put your dry clothes while you showered. The light was on a timer and motion sensor, so if you stood still too long the light went out. The room was adequate, but noisy. There must be better places.
