“?!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Well Galleria Borghese is, one of those places, you must see. But buying tickets on line, reservations...I mean, sure I want to see, but if in that time I could see tones of other things, why not. Crowd is big...and even with tickets you buy on line several days prior to your visit.

“feast your eyes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

So much art and sculpture in such a small building - the rooms are crammed full of paintings and sculptures - including some fantastic prices - it is hard too take so much in in such a small amount of time as visits are strictly limited to 2 hours. It is fairly expensive but we bought a Roma Pass for 30 euros which allowed us to get in here and another site free plus free public transport for 3 days. Guide book says you need to book advance but we didnt - just turned up and they let us in with the next group but we may have been lucky. The groups are only every 2 hours so you could end up waiting a long time if its busy. Also a long walk from the Metro station so recommend getting a bus instead. The park is lovely for a stroll too if you need to kill a couple of hours whilst waiting for the gallery. Or you can hire bikes by the hour. Anyway well worth the money/wait etc as must be one of the best galleries in Europe

“One of the most worthwhile experiences in Rome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Of course you need to see the "famous" outdoor sites of Rome but once you turn to the insides there are few places as wonderful as the Villa Borghese. Yes, Italian museums can be a bit "over the top" in that the works of art extend floor to ceiling (including the flooring and the ceiling!) and this is no exception. The "reservations required" Villa downstairs from the Galleria is a must add to the regular Galleria tour. Easy to spend 2 hrs lost in the place - wonderful collection!!

“Worth it for the Bernini's alone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

The Galleria Borghese is beautifully situated in its own stunning gardens. The park seemed to stretch for miles, and would be a lovely peaceful place for a picnic.
The queueing system could do with refining. We had booked online, but had to queue for our booked ticket, then another queue to have our bags taken, and then another queue to wait for our appointed two-hour slot. Also,we were disappointed that the cafe was closed. However, the exhibits are amazing, and well worth the queueing niggles. The entry hall is breathtaking, with its beautiful ceiling and mosaics on the floor. The Bernini sculptures are truly wonderful, and incredibly moving. Upstairs are the picture galleries, where Caravaggio's and Raphael's are to be seen. If the queueing system could be refined, and if the cafe had been open, this would have rated an 'excellent'. But the Bernini's were worth it.

“Incredible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Amazing! Unbelievable works by Bernini! You are able to get up close to the pieces. Not being able to take pictures, they take all cameras and phones, is a plus. Get's you to be close and enjoy the pieces instead of just snapping pictures.
