I read a lot of mixed reviews about this place before, some absolutely fantastic and others rather damning!
I loved it!
When we arrived at the hotel, they didn't have any of the superior rooms we'd booked ready for occupation. So, shock horror, they had to upgrade us to a junior suite. When the guy on reception asked if this was ok, i had to fight a massive grin breaking out and managed to reply calmly that this would be fine.
When we got out of the lift (there are five or six) on our floor we realised how trendy this place was. The lights were dimmed and the number on each door iluminates to indicate whether the occupants are in. This means you won't get bothered by cleaners if you decide to sleep in.
The room looked like it had just been plucked from a style magazine and was certainly very spacious. Everything can be worked by a control centre by the bed. We spent ages winding things up and down and finding new gadgets to play with.
The jaquizzi bath is really powerful and big enough for 2! Don't do what we did and put the bubble bath in. We nearly had a foam explosion!
The minibar is not cheap, but that's the norm with these knid of places.
And now for the icing on the cake, the roof! There's a good sized pool and a smaller one for the kiddies. These are both surrounded by sun loungers where the beatiful people tan themselves. At one end of the pool is the bar which is a sight in itself. Surrounded by white tub chairs and tables, it's looks like a set from a music video! It's a about 6 euros for beer and around 28 euros for a bottle of good wine. Champagne is 50 euros. Late afternoon/ early evening they set up a complimentry buffet on the bar which we found sufficient as a meal one night. We weren't trying to save the pennies, it's just we didn't want to leave the bar!
At the side of the pool is a lovely restaurant, we ate here one night and it cost us 100 euros but was worth every penny. I had rabbit and my boyfriend had lamb, they were both delicious.
The location isn't the best in Rome but it's within walking distance of the coleseum etc...
One word of warning: make sure they call you a taxi when leaving, do not get in one of the mercs outside. It cost us 70 euros to the airport. Saying this, it was a lovely car and probably worth it.
If somebody offered me a free hotel in Rome, I would still pay to stay here!
