I picked this hotel (despite some of the reviews on tripadvisor) because I wanted a reasonably priced hotel in Rome with a sun lounging area and pool. It is in easy walking distance of most of the sights in Rome, I used public transport to get to the Vatican but otherwise I walked everywhere. The room was very funky and suited my taste, I thought it was fun. The staff were mixed but generally good with one or two exceptions.
When I arrived they had given me a room overlooking the train station, I explained that I was on holiday and didnt want the noise of the trains in the morning so they moved me to the other side of the hotel with no problems. I was not bothered by any noise from the market nor the station.
The hotel wasn't particularly busy which meant the atmosphere in the evenings wasn't great so I generally went out, I agree that it is not in the nicest area of Rome but I felt safe and was happy to walk on my own, a couple of times when it was very late and dark I easily got a taxi and it was pretty cheap.
The biggest dissappointment that I had was that the pool was closed for maintenance. This was extremely frustrating because I had specifically asked before I booked whether the pool would be open for the duration of my stay and was told yes. When I complianed the man on reception was very apologetic, he explained that it was emergency maintenance and then credited all of the extras that I had charged to the room (about the equivalent of 1 nights stay) and also organised for me to keep my room late on the day of departure. I was very happy with this gesture as an apology.
The hotel is really easy to get to using the train from the airport which is much better value than a taxi, it was very easy to find following the directions that the hotel emailed me.
