Not knowing where to stay in Rome and the level of quality of the hotels, I decided that the Radisson would be a safe bet as I have stayed with them in other countries before. The distance from the main train station is great (although the area has a ghetto feel to it and you don't feel like you are in Rome) and that is where it ends. They have attempted to make the rooms look new and modern but have only achieved a trashy feel. The toilet has a slightly frosted glass door so no privacy. The shower is a cubicle in the middle of the room with slightly frosted glass (maybe romantic and sexy for a couple, but not so good for two friends sharing a room). The head boards of the beds kept on falling off. The entertainment system did not work. There is room climate controls but they are fake and there is only one setting for each floor so you die of heat. You can't sleep with the windows open due to the noise from the station. When complaining about the temperature it took them 2 days to move us to a cooler floor. And to top it off even in the second room, the head boards were falling off and generally the quality was about a 2 star level. The attractions are within walking distance if you are fit and willing to walk many miles to get to them.
At the end of the stay as compensation (after a complaint) I was offered a free nights stay next time I return to Rome, but what I tried to explain is that the hotel is awful so why would I voluntarily stay there again?!? Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

My wife and I visited the hotel for 3 days at the end of a cruise around the med. Having used Radisson regularly in other parts of the world I expected the same standard. The roof top pool area was nice and the standard euro breakfast was fine but the room was a disaster.
The room was quite small but was minimalist design gone crazy. The bed was located in the middle of the room. Behind the headboard next to the bed was a tent which purported to be a shower. Adjacent to the tent was a round wash basin with no surrounding surfaces so nowhere to put anything,soap toothbrushes etc. We had two large suitcases, having previously spent a week on a cruise ship, but there was nowhere to put them. We had to lay them on the floor taking up the already limited space around the bed. There were no wardrobes, the only area for clothes being a free standing rail about half a metre long adjacent to the tent. Behind the rail was a mirror which was completely obscured if any clothing was hung on the rail.
All of this, bed, shower, rail etc was was organised like an island in the middle of an already small room. The toilet was set in a hole in the wall fronted by a glass partition which acted like a sounding box on a guitar amplifying the sound of any movement or bodily function twentyfold.
The room in this hotel is not of the standards I had come to expect from Radisson. The room may look extremely modern but is totally impractical.
The staff were fine and the location suited our purpose perfectly being adjacent to the main railway station but I would certainly not use this hotel again or recommend it to other travellers.

Surrounded by beautiful, old architecture, the modern lines of the Radisson stand out like a sore thumb. While close the the train station that we needed to access to reach Civitavecchia and the Port, a cab had to be taken to reach any of the usual Roman must-sees.
The room was disappointing and tired, but most disappointing was the service: while everyone was very polite and friendly, the staff was clearly UNDER-staffed and getting room service required a trip to the restaurant since no one would answer the phone either at the front desk or in Room Service.
I will certainly find some place else to stay next time in Rome.

I have stayed in the Radisson Rome in April 2008. Despite of the bad reviews I’ve read about this hotel, I decided to bring my family there.
The location isn’t the best, it’s not like ur surrounded by beautiful monuments and amazing restaurants.

The hotel’s design is very different, very modern, but not much pratical, but it was a nice experience to stay in such a modern place.
The rooms are very simple, too simple in my opinion, but comfortable and are very clean! I always check if everything is clean in a hotel, and in this one I couldn’t find any mistake!

The food at the restaurant isn’t bad either, but I was expecting something more..italian! the lasagna my husband asked for was like the frozen ones you buy in the supermarket.
the waiters were nice and the service was very well coordinated.
The reception staff was very helpful, our check in was made by Melissa, always smiling and helping us with all the details, an amazing english (never expected that in italy) it was the first time we were always treated by our names and always asked about our stay.
The room service was ok but the food during the night was really poor, I’d rather go and buy something outside…

It was a pleasant stay, but it could have been better, maybe we’ll come back
