Staying at the Empire Palace Hotel was truly a great experience. It is a quiet, elegant hotel, with luxurious furnishings on a quiet street. The rooms were a little small, but were furnished beautifully and felt like a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of Rome. The bathroom though was very large and well appointed.

I've seen some reviewers complain about the location. I think these complaints are misplaced. It is only a five minute walk from a major square in Rome with all public transporation available - Piazza Barberini, and only a ten minute walk from the Spanish Steps. But it is off the beaten and well touristed busy streets, in an upscale residential neighborhood - a perfect location as far as I was concerned.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and made excellent recommendations. Another highlight of the hotel was the free breakfast, a true breakfast feast, one of the best I've ever had in any hotel.

For my 4 night stay in August 2009 the hotel was running an amazing internet special of 100 euro a night, a steal for this four star hotel.

My partner and I decided to stay a few days in Rome before we left on a 12 day cruise. The Empire Palace was recommended by a friend. We did our homework and check out the other hotels in the area and were impressed by the great reviews on Trip Advisor. We own a small Inn in Hollywood Florida, Ocean Inn Hollywood, and know firsthand how this review process works and ready every review. We were not disappointed.
We arrived early which was not a problem since our room was ready, the staff was very friendly and spoke perfect English, They provided us with a map and suggestions and pointed us in the right direction every day. The room was clean nicely decorated and everything in good working order including the A/C. Breakfast was included each morning with a very generous buffet. Rome is really easy to get around and the hotel is in walking distance to everything. If you prefer the Metro is just a few short blocks away. Around the corner are 3 Cafes. We ate at 2 of the 3 and were very happy that we did.
My Partner and I are well traveled and the owners of the Ocean Inn in Hollywood, Florida. We would recommend the Empire Palace to anyone looking to stay in Rome.

Service on front desk was poor. Rooms were small. Expensive. Location OK, ten minutes walk to anywhere great.

Bedroom extremely disappointing - no room to swing a cat. Bathroom was awful - shower over bath with inadequate protection meant that taking a shower flooded the bathroom. Bath very mouldy.

Location not good for seeing the sights of Rome.
