My wife, two kids (6 and 1) and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights. We went there from Boston, USA and this was our first trip to Europe. We had been warned about the small room sizes so we paid extra to get one of the larger ones so that we could use a crib for our toddler. The hotel was neat and clean. The bathrooms in Europe are supposed to be tiny but we had no issues at all. Very modern. No high speed internet which I wanted to figure out when are we going next. Wasn't exactly child-proof but then maybe people in the US are extra cautious etc.
It is located a good distance from the nearest Metro train station so on a hot day with the kids we were in trouble and had to take a taxi. It is walkable but a good 20 min walk. There isn't a lot to see near the hotel, everything is a good 15-30 min walk so yes, there might be other hotels in Rome that are better situated. The buffet breakfast was pretty good. Lots of fruits, cheese, cold cereals, yogurt and other sweet stuff that we hated but my 6 year old loved. Some eggs and sausages too.
