The hotel is about 5 minutes away from Termini station, which is the main train station of Rome. It is also where the two metro lines meet, making it very convenient to get around. However, the surrounding area is quite rough, so it may not be ideal for everyone.

The staff were all very friendly and spoke decent English. The room and especially the bathroom were very clean, which was important for me. The shower cubicle was a good size and shower itself very powerful. There were enough clean towels to go round.

I stayed in a three bedded room, and it was not small as I imagined. There was a flat screen TV, minibar and a safe in the wardrobe as well. I left the windows open at night for fresh air, and it can get a bit noisy, as there is a restaurant across the road. But it didn't bother me and I slept through it.

The breakfast was as expected, continential style. The staff do make sure there is always enough food.

There is also a locked luggage room, which is very handy if you are leaving Rome in the evening.

We wanted a central, cheap bed and breakfast to act as a base on our midweek break, and i think we landed on our feet with the Serena. Five minutes walk from the main railway station, fifteen minutes walk from the Colosseum or the Trevi Fountain. Recently refurbished, i could not fault the rooms or the attitude of all the staff. The rooms aren't the biggest in the world but only needed them to crash out in. Loved the lift!! original unfurbished open mesh lift, very 20's/30's at a guess! Basic continental breakfast but plenty of choice. No problems with any of the staff, the lady on reception spoke best english but even the men worked out my patchy italian! Would recommend it if you're on a budget, would go back there again. Well done Serena!!

Quite good hotel for the money you have to pay. The room is clean and not too noisy. While we stayed in the Hotel for some days in the beginning of August the airconditioning was working and the room was very comfortable for sleeping. The TV set (flatscreen TFT) offers a variety of stations such as Italian and Spanish channels along with BBC world, CNN and the german ARD channel. However, some of the channels showed in a quite "snowy/noisy" picture quality.

This hotel have quite an interesing and old style lift which is a great fun to use. The staff of the hotel was very friendly and helpful the reception desk is operated 24 hours a day. All the staff from the reception desk speak good English. The breakfast is good. Especially the cappucino you can order for free from the hotel staff or obtain from a self service machine. We only missed fruits in the breakfast buffet.

The only negative thing to report about the room was the shower area. It had leaky door and the water was flowing out of the shower-cell furthermore the shower-head was quite "ugly" and was in need of urgent replacement.

The hotel is very close to the central train station Roma Termini where you also have access to the Metro Lines A and B and a bus terminus for several routes to the Vatican and other sightseeing places and some shopping opportunities. You also have easy access to Tram Lines 5 and 14 which have a stop near the hotel too. If you want you even can walk to Vatican (approximately 20-25 minutes walking), Colosseum, Forum Romanum and other sights more close to the hotel.
There are also some great and not too expensive Restaurants around the hotel.

Apart the rooms being tiny and the street noisy and dodgy at nights, there was a few reasons why I don't recommend this hotel:
1) you might get unlucky and get the same room as us, the one that's over a kebab shop, and every morning you wake up to a disgusting greasy smell of kebab (which will stay in your room and clothes for the rest of the day).
2) the walls are so thin that you'll be able to hear in every detail the deeds your neighbour is up to in his toilet.
3) when lifting the throw on the bed I found some hairs on the duvet.
4) breakfast is poor.
5) and finally - do not even dream of getting a refund!

We stayed in thin excellent hotel for one week. The rooms vere very nice and clean. The brekfast was great and the staff friendly. The hotel elevator was very "fancy". When we left the hotel they kept our luggage so we had time to jump around before our train left to the airport. The neighbourhood was very nice too, with lot off people and full off life. Off course there is some noice on the streets, but you are in Rome, and that is the way it should be. Also it's safe to walk around, no troubles at all. Strongly recomended by us Cityscramblers HKI Finland.
