The 2 of us stayed from Thurs.,May 8,to Mon.,May 19,2008,Room203,Monteverde Bldg.11 LONG DAYS!(Extended, 'timsesharing vacation)We are in our 50's,but very active.I don't want to put the 'place down',since there are mitigating circumstances, that got us 'agitated'.Of course, getting approx. only .54 cents, for a Euro, and, at one 'Exchange Booth',.49 cents.on a Euro, didn't make us happy! (Use an ATM,instead!) When we checked in,the A/C was broken.Front desk,says"5 days 'til repairman comes,(that's Monday!) No emergency A/C 'contract',even on 85 degree days! Patio doors, are 'sliders', w/NO screens, and No windows,in room! Had to stay in the room,w/fan blowing hot air out,for 5 days, can't leave 'sliding doors' open>>> Big Bugs, fly in! No king sized beds in Italy, front Desk says>>> Had 2 twins held together by a sheet,so we didn't fall through the 'crack'. TV>>,One English speaking channel'BBC', 24 hrs.of news,(just what I want,on vacation!)the rest of the many channels were Italian,French, etc.Oh,you can see 'The Dubai;,channel, from the Arab nations, and see where all your 'fuel money' is going,to build their new cities. That's fun! Bring your own clock/radio.,none there. They have 'wake up' service,if needed. No coffee maker, just a '2 cup', expresso maker. No computer on premises, you have to have your own 'laptop',and you can get 'the service', for free, there.Gonna take a 'laptop',to Italy? No ATM,on premises, either. We cooked a few meals in the room, the 2 burners are 'close',meaning>> to get the 'pan' and pot,on together, you had to do a 'balancing act' ,on the burners. That room,#203, had no 'bathroom counter space', you put everthing on the long bathoom sink, shelf, next to the faucet',The shower, had a 'stationary', glass door, get this> 1/3 the length, of the shower/tub,water splashes all over the floor, while showering.Good hot water, though! We either walked, and we walked about 40 miles, for the 11 days,we were there,or took a 'taxi',About the 'taxi',the front desk doesn't tell you this>> they call a taxi, and it comes in 5 min.s',but there is an extra charge of 7 and a 1/2 Euros, (approx. $10 US),for that pick/up.It's on the 'taxi meter'.The ''staff' was very good, incl.the maid service.Things improved, when Monday came, and the A/C,came on!(Oh, Happy Day!!)We only ate one meal there, breakfast, cold cuts, breads, coffee, cereals, juices,by the pool.About $20 US,each. (If you go to Rome/and this resort) Ok,here's my tips>>>>Nearby ,'food stores',(about 4 blocks, away)'Pam',small store, butcher + fresh bread, in rear of the store.'Punto',on the main street, larger, fresh seafod. In the rear.In between, the 2 stores, you'll see a 'pedestran only', street,in there,is a 'computer and tel.store',with reasonable rates. In front of 'Punto',is a 'taxi' stand, look for 'taxi sign',going toward 'The Vatican'. Stay in the center of Rome, and a nice hotel,no more than 4 days! Do your 'home work',on what you want to see, they have 'audio guides'at most 'sites'.(I heard, there is a 'Rome on 96 Hrs'.somewhere)We had a 'great Sunday Brunch,at 'Westin Excelsior',$100,US,each,that was the BEST meal!Get 'that' location, stay in THAT AREA!!Not necessarily, at that,'hotel'.Most ATM'S,are 'multi-lingual'.Take out, about $1,000 US,from the 'Roman ATM's',thats' approx.,+ only, 554 Euros!Be very, very careful crossing the street(from the Dehon),walking to to the stores! My advice, make your left, and go DOWN,to the 'crosswalk'! There is a restaurant,a few blocks, down, toward 'The Vatican',w/tables,outside,you'll pass it if you walk, that way. It's expensive, and 'mediocre'.You really DON'T need tickets to see 'The Pope',on Wed.,at 10:30a.m.We had them, but no one checked, but we arrived @ 8:30 a.m.,for a good seat! If you go>>> bring lots of sun protection, hats, long sleeves, cover your neck, legs, etc.!I recommend a white sheet,to cover yourself! YOU WILL COOK,in the 'square'!!! No 'Pope',in Aug.DO NOT go in the summer, unless you like 100 degrees, plus, temps.,and thousand of people on lines! Be prepared, to do 'tours' in the EARLY morning, when things start! And, if you see Salmon,on the menu,it's 'smoked',not listed as such! To me,this 'Residence',was in 'left field'.Caio!

We just got back from a 4 night stay at the Adagio City Aparthotel in Rome. This is a great place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are looking for a little oasis then this is the place for you. It is about a 15-20 min walk from Vatican City. We mainly used the public transportation to get around (which was a little annoying as there seems to be sooo many buses and it was very, very hot on them!). We had trouble finding the place on our first day - we could not find any clear directions (my own fault, should have called the hotel). You can take the metro line A to Valle Aurelia then take bus #31. The directions I found told me that you got off the bus after 3 stops but this was incorrect. I am not going to estimate the number as I never counted but once you see the Esso to the left side get off. Walk up the road the Esso is on (this is Via Leone XIII) and turn right on Via Leone Dehon (the hotel is marked from here). The walk from the bus is a good 5 minutes half of it up hill which was a bit tiresome after a long day of touring. Also pay attention to the times the bus runs! We were told to take #571 to the colosseum (we were going for dinner) but were not told that the bus stops running early evening (like 7:30pm) and were stuck finding a different way back to the hotel.
The hotel itself is nice. The poolside garden area is lovely and would have been great for a swim (we were too busy touring). The rooms are well equipped. It seems some of the rooms are undergoing renos (no worries about noise or anything while we were there) and some of the rooms seem to need it. The first room we were shown to looked quite well used with old, stained carpet that didn't appear to be well cleaned (although we were told it was, it was just old) and the dishes in the kitchenette were dirty. We weren't happy and asked for a new room (this was a first - I hate complaining and have never asked for another room before). Although they were "fully booked" they made arrangements and moved us down the hall to another room that we think was in the process of being reno'd. It had new flooring and the kitchenette was spotless. Much better (but to my defense when I had booked the room I had requested a room overlooking the pool on the upper level as I knew from other reviews that these rooms had been redone - was not given that!). We bought food for our own breakfast (the hotel charges 6 euro/person). The bathroom was without hairdryer but you can get one from the front desk (you need to leave a deposit but get it back once you return the dryer). Overall it was a good stay. The staff is overall friendly and helpful. If you are pressed for time you may want to consider staying closer to the centre. If you are looking for a little R and R while staying in Rome then this may be the place for you.

Highly recommend hotel...

Stayed 3 nights in September 2007, and it was booked in last minute. Value of money is good..

I have nothing to complaint about at all.. Its wonderfull to enjoying the pool and get some sun, and in the afternoon walk into lovely Rome (down-town area)...
The breakfast was pretty nice. And the location with view over the garden and pool is just a perfect beginning to start a new day in Rome...
Rome is a lovely city, there is so much to see... I'm sure I gonna stay here again...

  • Liked — The very nice pool..
  • Disliked — Transport to airport

This was a good hotel to stay in during our recent trip to Rome. There were 4 of us all together and we had requested 1 room with twin beds and one with a double bed, which was what we were given. A previous report had stated that the communal areas were tired and had a dirty carpet. While the first floor certainly had a dirty carpet (my best friend was on the first floor) the 4th floor all looked clean and tidy. However, both our rooms were very clean. The rooms are very spacious and all have a television, should you need one. The rooms also have an area which has a fridge and 2 rings which allowed you to cook food should you wish. There is a supermarket around the corner and while we didn’t cook much, we were able to stock up on bread, butter, yogurts, milk, bacon etc which we used for breakfast before going out and also soft drinks. There is also a table and 4 chairs in the room close to the kitchen area for your convenience. The kitchen is very well stocked with cups. plates and other utensils. All of the rooms had a balcony, although ours on the 4th floor was much smaller than my best friend on the first floor as it led onto the garden, (the reception was in the basement) There were ample cupboard space for luggage, clothes etc and the rooms had air conditioning.

The hotel also has a pool which is set in gardens which makes it a very calm and tranquil setting and we used this daily. We went out every day (Sun –Fri) and generally returned about 4- 5pm. We then had a swim before going back out at in the evening. While the pool is not heated it was certainly fine for us, although the weather was still in the high seventies, which probably helped. I always pack extra towels for the pool, but those without towels were asked to leave a 10 euro deposit and 5 euros for the towel itself.

The location was excellent as a base and the staff were extremely helpful, advising us regularly which bus to catch and where to get off. The hotel is situated on a quiet residential street away from the hustle and bustle of the City, but the bus stop is only a short walk away. However, it is situated on a hill so the walk back from the bus stop could be hard if they suffered with mobility problems or asthma. There is also a busy road to cross and at time it appears that the traffic is going really fast (although that may have been more down to me taking a little longer to get used to Roman driving) I would certainly recommend this hotel.

  • Liked — Really excellent base for Rome.
  • Disliked — about 10 minutes from the bus stop and all up hill

Arrived 3am to check in with night manager. Unfortunately he started arguing with us after misunderstanding what we were saying. Things became unpleasant when he told us to go away. A subsequent apology was too late for a ruined start. In daylight went to passable restaurant. Noticed communal areas tired, dirty carpet, big broken pane of glass on the balcony window, and daytime staff over-taxed.
