My boyfriend and I went to Rome last weekend. Our first impression of Hotel St Moritz was dirty, unfriendly, small and damp smelling, we were shown to our room (which was right by the reception), on entering the room it was tiny and dingy, it had a double bed in it which was like a camp bed and very hard, with black marks on the wall's. The bathroom was relitively clean containing two towels which were more like sheets (very unobsorbant) so luckily we brought our own.
At night time and in the morning the traffic outside was so loud it kept us awake - it was constant, apparently the window's were double glazed but you wouldnt have thought it! Also being so close to reception, the telephone ringing and people talking/shouting didnt help.
In the morning we went to breakfast which consisted of a freezing cold, rock hard boiled egg, some stale bread and a choice of crossaints that were frozen in the middle! Delicious!
The only good thing about this hotel was the location, it was within walking distance to everything. Luckily we found some lovely restaurants and really enjoyed the sightseeing, we are a young lively couple so we stayed out until late both nights so only had to sleep at the hotel, I certainly wouldnt recommend it for a romantic weekend or a family holiday! Next time we will definatly not go lower than 4 stars - even though we were told that 3 stars in Italy was quite good.
