I booked a single at the Midi Hotel through Lastminute, at €50/night, and I have to say it was a very decent accomodation and extremely good value too.

The room on the first floor looking the nice roman patio value was clean, and the attention of reception was correct.
The breakfast was nice too although the coffee was instant.

On the possible negative sides:
- a previous review stated that they had an issue with water leaking from the last floor that they are building on top of the building. Well they don't seem to have completed the works, so that might be a cause of trouble

- to enter the hotel you need to ring a bell and the receptionist will open the door from their desk. On my first night a guest was ringing that bell at least for half an hour before someone appeared.

- the reception staff changed many times throughout my stay, at least four or five different people attended me during my three night stay, which seems far too many for a 10 room hotel.

- the hotel next door "Hotel Center" seems to share the reception with the Midi, in fact their customers plus other Hotel's customers on the other side of the patio had breakfast at the Midi, all comunicatiing through the Patio. Although it didn't mean anything wrong to me, I think It poses some security issues.

I read the reviews on this side and was surprised when I went to the Midi Hotel. From the outside it looked a bit shabby but inside it's beautiful. The whole place is redecorated. The rooms are no very big but they got the cleanest bath rooms I've ever seen in a hotel. Well, the breakfast (like everywhere in Italy) is not a real breakfast.
I can say I liked staying at the Midi Hotel also because its good place near the station.

We were able to check in early at 11am to our comfortable, clean, modern room. Everything worked. Quiet, with a balcony, but we were at the back and if tram noise upsets you the front rooms might be a problem. Shower had fixed overhead head and hand unit too. Plenty of hot water.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Location was fine once you worked out how to get to Termini station/bus station using the underground conveyor that goes the length of the station. Not the most central location, but good for the price, and felt quite safe to us.
Breakfast was mediocre, but at least you could start the day with juice and coffee.
In summary, very good value. Not ideal if you're old or infirm, but that probably goes for Rome in general.

Where do you start........
1) Nice hotel, very modern inside and lovely looking room.
2) However, you must like constant tram noise, and building work on the roof which starts at 8am !
3) The added bonus was a flooded bathroom because they failed to cover the open roof, which blew all the electrics within the room and left an inch of water on the carpet/bathroom floor !
4) Finally, unhelpful staff who make you stay in the flooded room, with no electricity, except for a tiny torch for comfort ! And then they fail to reimburse you for the night of hell, only paying up when our travel agent put pressure on them.
This hotel ruined our stay in Rome.

This is a great little centrally located hotel. It is small, friendly and absolutely spotless clean. The rooms are all newly refurbished with air conditioning and a great power shower in the bathroom, comfy beds and minibar. I had a little balcony overlooking the patio terrace. As a single female spending 5 days in Rome I felt totally safe and at ease. It looks a bit dodgy from the outside but once you enter it is a real haven. It is about 10-15 mins walk from the Termini train station and centrally located for all the main sights. It's about 15 mins walk to the Colliseum and Forum. There are a couple of really great restaurants around the corner, with excellent delicious food and really cheap. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it if you are looking for a reasonably priced (cheap!), centrally located, and clean hotel in the centre of Rome. The added bonus is that from Rome FCO airport you pay €9.50 to Termini station and the hotel is just a short walk from it. I'd definitely stay there again.
