We were originally suppose to stay at the hotel Best Roma, but were told the hotel was under renovation and we had no room. So after a long day of travelling, we were moved to the Invictus, but had to pay for our own cab to get there. The room we were originally given was small and was also the storage spot for the maid's cleaning equipment. We were moved to a better room, but the room was next to the front desk. The walls are paper thin, so my wife and I were kept awake by the telephone ringing, and our neighbour snoring. All in all, a bad experience...

Lovely clean cozy hotel, centrally located with friendly knowledgeable staff. Great location for sites. Walking distance to Termini and Barberini metro. Continental breakfast (cereal/juice/rolls/croissants/tea/coffee) and plenty of it. Good sized room with fridge, tv and en suite. Entrance is shared by apartments with hotel being top two floors so with two entrances it felt very safe. Sat tv has only one english speaking channel (CNN) but then who goes to Rome to watch tv! Great winter deal when booked direct. Lovely corner deli/cafe opposite hotel at very reasonable prices. All in all a good experience.

My wife and I booked this hotel through Expedia.com. Expedia states this 'hotel' has free internet, free parking & full breakfast. They had none of the above! No internet, no free parking (unless you consider free parking to be a free space in any street in Rome), and certainly no 'full breakfast'. This isn't even a hotel, never mind a 3 star one. It's like any apartment block in Rome. You take an old, communal lift (with other residents of the block) to an apartment on the 2nd floor ("reception") and they give you a key to an apartment on the 4th or 5th floor. The walls are PAPER THIN! We were kept awake for 3 nights running by people next door partying 'til 3am. When we called down to complain several times it rang out. We asked for the manager on countless occasions who was, surprise surprise, never there. Even Expedia themselves couldn't get a hold of him when they tried to contact him with my complaints. It is relatively close to several places of interest (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Via Del Corso etc), but so are hundreds of other REAL hotels with superior accommodation and facilities at a similar price. You have been warned!

Beware of fraud! I recently took my girlfriend to Rome to celebrate the New Year and the whole thing was wrecked by the fraudulent people who run this hotel. They charged us twice for the 'privilege' of staying there - taking my credit card details from the booking I made via their website to make a second charge. When I confronted them about this, they said everything would be sorted out, but it never was!

It would be sorted in the morning... It would be sorted in the afternoon... Now the bank is closed... Now they refuse to answer any correspondence. Once again, please be aware, I wouldn't like this to happen to other tourists that they think will never visit Rome again. Do not give them your credit card details via their website!

While we were there, the young Italian man on the counter and the Indian who speaks no English attempted to cover up their little fraud scheme, claiming it was a misunderstanding. They regularly said they would clear it up but always found an excuse not to. As of yet they still owe us close to 400 Euros. Our credit card company are currently investigating the hotel for fraud (in other words, they made it clear to us that there are a number of cases pending on this hotel)...

Another trick used by this bunch of crooks are saying you have used things in the minibar that you haven't (in this case, leaving half-empty drinks in there). That only added insult to injury.

I post here because I picked this hotel partly based on the recommendations here. I would hate for anyone else to have their time in Rome wrecked by the thieves of Hotel Invictus. Be aware!!
