First time in Rome, arrived at Airport and the taxi we had booked from the Hotel did not turn up. Flight arrived in at 9pm, and we had to then fight our way through a queue to get an airport bus to the Terminal Station. The bus journey took about 30mins. At Terminal Station, we struggled to find a taxi that would take us to the hotel, due to it being "too far away".

We eventually found someone willing to take us, not a licensed taxi though! He was a star and it cost us 30 euros to get to the hotel. At nearly 10pm we just wanted to get to the hotel!

Hotel was set off the road, you wouldn't notice the entrance. The room was quite small but very clean. Staff very friendly and apologised when we asked where our taxi was - they had booked the taxi so it wasn't their fault!

Quiet location, no noise, in a residential area. Not central - but okay when you get the hang of the transport. No 32 bus was great - bus stops on the main road, near the bridge. Approx 20mins on bus to Metro Ottaviano (line A) to take you into Rome.

Take the 32 bus to the last stop, and you are right at the Vatican - so very handy for that!

There did not appear to be any room service available, and the breakfasts were okay - nothing fancy - cereals, hard bread rolls, croissants and cheese and ham.

We ate locally and there were a number of restaurants near to the Hotel. The hotel staff recommended one only 5 mins away and it was fantastic, excellent food and the staff were great in translating the menu for us.

There is a lot of walking about involved - so be prepared!

Oh, and there was a great local market at the square selling all sorts of fish, veggies, clothing - it was good to wander around with the locals buying and selling - this was on the Saturday morning.

Tip - Vatican museums are free to get in on the last sunday of the month - it was mobbed and we didn't get in, even though we got there early (9am) - the queue was unbelievable!

Would probably go back now we know the buses - but it was very confusing at first and taxi drivers are not forthcoming at taking you to the hotel!

Stayed at this hotel in November 2004, and was somewhat unimpressed. While the hotel rooms themselves are very clean and modern, the outside of the hotel is somewhat off-putting. It's a very small, almost hidden entrance, and the area surrounding the hotel tends to be very quiet and unpopular for tourism. Being our first time in Rome, I would've preferred to stay somewhere closer to a Piazza and public transportation. Taxis were on average 10-15 Euros, depending on where you're going. Staff was very friendly despite the language barrier, and willing to help. For the price, it was fine, but would definitely stay somewhere closer to the city centre next time.

Great place. Seems fishy at first due to the language barrier and service seems mysterious, but later we realized it is simply the fact they did not speak much english. Rooms and decent size, beautiful balcony, close to TRAM..if you dont like walking, this isnt for you..if you can walk, nice places to walk..simple once u get used to it.....great price..decent breakfast, nothing fancy but can fill u up ...go for it!

This is a nice, clean hotel, and definitely above average for the price. The smallish rooms are well fitted, with marble bathrooms, quiet air-con and good comfortable beds. The hotel itself is a converted residential building located in a quiet semi-residential area with no noticeable traffic noise and no unsavoury activity in the vecinity. Breakfast (included) is acceptable if a bit unexcting - although it is a proper buffet, so if you like bread rolls and cornflakes then you can eat your fill! The one criticism I can think of would be the distance from the centre of Rome. It's about half an hour by bus (no 32) and metro (Line A, Ottaviano station) from the Termini station, including a 5-minute walk to the bus-stop. There is also not an abundance of restaurants (apart from a very good Chinese!) within easy walking distance, so if you want to eat at a different restaurant each night then you will have to get to one of the larger squares - eg. Piazza Flaminio, a 15 minute tram ride (no 2) and 5 minute walk - or into the centre to eat. Note also that use of the excellent internet connection (RJ45 into a local Windows DHCP network and ISDN/ADSL line) is subject to a 5 euro per night charge which is not mentioned in the literature. Overall though, well above average, especially considering the high prices and poor quality of many other hotels in Rome, and I would stay there again.

This is a beautifully refurbished hotel. The decor is very stylish and contemporary and accordingly, everything feels brand new. The room was very comfortable and both it and the ensuite were above average size, light and bright, with windows and balcony off the room.

The staff were friendly and one gentleman in particular was very helpful, going out of his way to assist us on 2 separate occasions. Impressive.

The breakfast offered has good variety and the breakfast room itself is really pleasant.

A word of warning about the location - we had realised from our research that the hotel was not immediately in the centre of Rome, but as first time visitors, were not entirely sure of its distance from the centre. In fact, the hotel is a pleasant and easy 5 minute walk to the bus or tram stop and then perhaps 20 minutes into the centre and all the attractions. However, when we arrived at the airport and enquired about private transportation to the hotel, we were advised by all the taxi and accommodation touts who flocked to help us that the hotel was so far away that we would be better off finding another hotel! We almost did so, and would have forfeited the cost of a night. We were pleased that we didn't, as this truly was a lovely place to stay, and the journey into town was just another one of the pleasures.
