Our stay at Hotel Forte was absolutely fabulous. I contacted the hotel prior to our departure to have them send a car to meet us at the airport. As we walked out of arrivals the hotel car service was there to help with luggage and escort us to the car. Upon arrival at the hotel (which is in the best location you could ask for.....spanish steps, trevi fountain all in walking distance) the staff was there to welcome us (very warm and spoke English well). Our room was small, but for the $$ (240 Euro) it was totally worth it. The hotel is very charming, VERY clean, breakfast enough to keep you going until lunch (cereal, juice, coffee, pastry), and in a central location. The Metro is about 5 min. walk, which we took to Vatican City. I give this a thumbs-up. After staying at several other hotels, which cost more, over the years this was a pleasure. I'm sure you'll enjoy!!!!! Ciao.

  • Liked — Location, location, location....and the cleanliness of the hotel.
  • Disliked — The small room.

I stayed at the Hotel Forte in June 2008. We found this place by accident – it was suggested to us by Franco (information guy at the Rome airport). I t was wonderful and what’s more, it has been recently renovated. The staff was mostly amazing especially the front desk folks, who were so helpful 24 hours a day. We (traveled with an old friend) did have issues with the breakfast server who seemed to be selective in her service. We both found that she was more attentive to the Euro-looking folks (we are both black females). We discussed this with the front desk and the server herself (she seemed shocked!). Our last breakfast morning was handled much more professionally. However, the experience with the breakfast server is not enough to ruin the review and the experience at the Hotel Forte.

The room was beautiful in the Italian tradition – just simply amazing. The hotel itself is located by the Spanish Steps and we found it to be walking distance to all the sights – Pantheon, Imperial Fort, Colosseum – even the Vatican and St. Peters. I would definitely stay here again when visiting Rome.

  • Liked — Front Desk staff and location
  • Disliked — Breakfast server and the Margana Tour of Florence

we arrived late but only had to press the intercom outside and say who we were and were let in immediately. went up in the ornate wrought iron lift to reception. signed in and taken to room which was more than adequate. 2 beds pushed together to make a really huge bed and good mattress, bathroom good although quite high sides to step into. breakfast was help yourself and good selection of pastries etc. staff friendly and very helpful. location superb as spanish steps & metro within 2 mintues walk. all the designer shops close by! the hotel was putting in new wooden floors whilst we were there, but apart from seeing the materials when we went out in the morning everything was gone by the time we came home.on last day it rained and we went back to hotel after lunch (12.00 check out) to wait in lounge area. no problem with staff who kept our case until we decided to go to airport.i have read other reviews and it seems as though some people were not in the same hotel as us! i can recommend it on our experience and we would go back to this hotel again as it felt a very safe area.

  • Liked — lots of linen changes & new bath towels/soap etc every day

Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone I knew. As soon as we arrived the front desk was extremley helpful with explaining everything and giving us a map of Rome advising us of the best places to eat and drink.

The room was very Roman Italian and was a comfortable size although not very big. However, the room that we stayed in (first room, straight down the hall from reception) was exposed to the breakfast service noise in the mornings. Other than this, we had a great experience.

Location was fantastic as it is a stone's throw away from the Spanish Steps and all the 'expensive' shops.

Breakfast was also very pleasant.

Overall, would recommend this hotel to anyone who wished to pay less than €120 a night.

I loved the Hotel Forte, it is set in a quaint roman street 2 minutes walk from the Spanish Steps and Metro. The hotel is on the 1st floor of an old palazzo, with a delightful wrought iron spiral staircase and lift. Our twin room was number 140, it was very quiet and looked onto a courtyard ( not the best view, but we did not mind that ) the hotel is all on the 1st floor. Our room was spacious and spotless, my only complaint is that it was a little dark, but no problem. The bathroom was clean and roomy we had a shower over the bath. The bathroom was well stocked daily with toiletries ( we even had paper slippers ! ) and fresh fluffy towels.

The breakfast room was lovely and bright with typical continental fayre, cereals, pastries, ham, cheeses etc. the cappucini were excellent, also the best tea I've had in Rome, the young lady that served the drinks was very pleasant. There were only 4 tables in the breakfast room but we always got seated.

The 3 front desk staff that we dealt with were all very friendly and helpful, we were even allowed to check in early as our room was ready ( usally 2pm ) there is a security guy at the front of the building 24hrs, who was always friendly on entering and leaving.

I would highly recommend the Hotel Forte and I am planning to return as soon as possible. I cannot understand the negativity of some of the previous reviews, for a 3 star hotel you get 5 star treatment. Once again thank you Hotel Forte, our trip was made extra-special at this beautiful hotel.
