My 17 year old Daughter and I have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Lillium Hotel in Rome and we are delighted with our stay. The staff are excellent. Always on hand and ready to help in every way possible - including offering to prepare a simple supper for my daughter when she fell ill. The room was perfect. Nicely decorated and spacious with a lovely balcony. Both the air con and ceiling fan kept us perfectly cool in the heat. The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate and appointed with quality appliances. The reception area and breakfast room were havens of tranquillity after a hot day on the streets of Rome. I was given several excellent suggestions for restaurants and used the hotel laptop to secure my own arrangements for a day trip. (My daughter used the laptop to watch English language shows in bed !) On our last day, we were encouraged to use the shower before heading home - an excellent end to a great trip. Well done Lillium!

This was our first visit to Rome, and the Lilium turned out to be a great place to stay. The Lilium is a lovely botique hotel near the Porta Pia and Termini train station. My wife simply loved the place.

Staff:
The staff is exceptional. They gave great recommendations for places to eat, tours, and transportation. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and most importanlty, very helpful. My wife and I can not speak Italian, but English was not problem for the staff.

Ammenities:
This is a small botique hotel, so it does not have the services of a huge international chain. Room 35 is on the corner of the building on the quiet street side and only has one neighbor. We didn't have any noise problems at all and we enjoyed the balcony with table/chairs and ample flowers. Not all rooms have a balcony.

The room was on the small side, but was tastefully appointed and spotlessly clean. The bed was very conformtable. There was a remote control air conditioning unit that was very powerful and very quiet (best I've seen). We are very picky about room temperature and we had complete control.

The electronicly controlled window blinds could darken the room completely at any time of day.

A very pleasant and highly unusual surprise was the availability of loaner laptops for internet access. I've stayed at scores of hotels and have never seen this done before.

Breakfast:
Breakfast was included and was quite pleasant. The fare included fresh squeezed orange juice - they squeeze the oranges on the spot. It was a nice continental style meal - nothing cooked or hot other than the fresh (and hot) coffee.

Location:
We arrived by train at Roma Termini and were able to walk to the hotel in about 10 minutes with our bags. The hotel is not clearly marked, but if you have a map and the address you will find it. There is a buzz in panel where you press a button to get the door (a HUGE wooden door) opened.

The bus access was excellent. The 62 bus will take you right to St. Peter's. Like other reviewers, we took a walk to the Spanish Steps during the evening. In the blazing July sun, the air conditioned bus worked just fine for us.

Security:
We felt safe and secure at all times, both inside and out.

Summary:
The Lilium was a very pleasant and sweet place to stay - I would recommend this hotel to friends and family, and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at hotel lilium for 4 nights in november. It was a pleasure. The rooms are very clean, the bathroom very modern and spotless, and the decor quite pleasing to the eye. The hotel itself is a perfect place for a young couple wanting to discover Rome. it is beautiful. We had a celebration but the hotel did not sell wine late at night so the concierge gave us his own bottle at no charge. Thats called good service. Highly recommended.

  • Liked — beautiful decor
  • Disliked — you can hear noise from the entrance from the tiger lily room. but there wasnt much of it.

A wonderful hotel, very nice and helpful staff. We had a room with a terrace, which added a significant dimension to the place. Rooms are clean, perhaps a bit small, but larger than I have had in London. The hotel even offers laptop loaners, which came in handy as we hunted for Halal restaurants. Not sure why some reviewers have said the location is "off the beaten track" or a bit far from stuff, because the Lilium's location is perfect. Easily walkable to either Termini station (with bags) or the Repubblica station. One day we WALKED from the hotel to the Spanish Steps and on down to Trevi and the Coliseum. Right around the hotel you can stumble on great food everywhere.

I take away one star from the overall because of one bizarre episode the morning of our departure. I left my bags in the lobby and ate a quick breakfast in the breakfast room adjoining the lobby. This was just after 7AM. After breakfast I find that my camera was taken from where it was laid on top of my bags. Nobody came thru the lobby that morning, mind you the hotel is behind a locked street door and 3 flights up. There is just NO foottraffic anywhere close. Only the croissant delivery guy came thru that morning, at exactly those minutes I was in the breakfast room. Clearly he boosted my camera. However the hotel staff refused to entertain that possibility. I was stupid to leave my stuff unattended perhaps. But you have to see this hotel to understand how secure I felt doing so. Ultimately I was not pleased with the lack of zeal on the part of the front desk staff to investigate. They just flat out said it was "impossible" that the bread dude took my camera.

I would recommend this excellent hotel, but just take care as if you are staying at the Hilton in Tenderloin - er - that is, Union Square, SF.

We found the Lilium on a last-minute booking website for a great price. It is a little out of the way from central Rome, but it was well worth the travel time. It was immaculately clean and cool, and the fresh flowers in the lobby made the air inside a welcome relief from the heat and pollution of Rome in the summer. The rooms were moderately furnished but comfortable and spacious as European hotels go. They were still renovating and couldn't provide us breakfast but instead they arranged for us to get free breakfasts at a delightful little cafe just a few doors away.

What really impressed us was the friendly and helpful staff. En route from Paris a discount airline (I won't say which one) had lost my bag and they couldn't be reached to even issue a letter for insurance purposes - because they had no employees outside of England. The hotel concierge was amazingly helpful - he was on the phone for several hours calling the airports and airlines trying to help us find the bag (which was great because our Italian is not very good). He lent us a laptop so we could try to contact the airline over the internet. When we finally located the bag, he took delivery of it and held on to it for us all day even though we had already checked out.

It is true that this is not a 5 star hotel - it is small and doesn't boast a lot of extra amenities. But if you are looking for the Hilton or the Sheraton... go stay there. If you want a great little boutique hotel that is a clean, comfortable, attractive alternative, stay at the Lilium.
