My boyfriend and I stayed at hotel lilium for 4 nights in november. It was a pleasure. The rooms are very clean, the bathroom very modern and spotless, and the decor quite pleasing to the eye. The hotel itself is a perfect place for a young couple wanting to discover Rome. it is beautiful. We had a celebration but the hotel did not sell wine late at night so the concierge gave us his own bottle at no charge. Thats called good service. Highly recommended.

  • Liked — beautiful decor
  • Disliked — you can hear noise from the entrance from the tiger lily room. but there wasnt much of it.

A wonderful hotel, very nice and helpful staff. We had a room with a terrace, which added a significant dimension to the place. Rooms are clean, perhaps a bit small, but larger than I have had in London. The hotel even offers laptop loaners, which came in handy as we hunted for Halal restaurants. Not sure why some reviewers have said the location is "off the beaten track" or a bit far from stuff, because the Lilium's location is perfect. Easily walkable to either Termini station (with bags) or the Repubblica station. One day we WALKED from the hotel to the Spanish Steps and on down to Trevi and the Coliseum. Right around the hotel you can stumble on great food everywhere.

I take away one star from the overall because of one bizarre episode the morning of our departure. I left my bags in the lobby and ate a quick breakfast in the breakfast room adjoining the lobby. This was just after 7AM. After breakfast I find that my camera was taken from where it was laid on top of my bags. Nobody came thru the lobby that morning, mind you the hotel is behind a locked street door and 3 flights up. There is just NO foottraffic anywhere close. Only the croissant delivery guy came thru that morning, at exactly those minutes I was in the breakfast room. Clearly he boosted my camera. However the hotel staff refused to entertain that possibility. I was stupid to leave my stuff unattended perhaps. But you have to see this hotel to understand how secure I felt doing so. Ultimately I was not pleased with the lack of zeal on the part of the front desk staff to investigate. They just flat out said it was "impossible" that the bread dude took my camera.

I would recommend this excellent hotel, but just take care as if you are staying at the Hilton in Tenderloin - er - that is, Union Square, SF.

We found the Lilium on a last-minute booking website for a great price. It is a little out of the way from central Rome, but it was well worth the travel time. It was immaculately clean and cool, and the fresh flowers in the lobby made the air inside a welcome relief from the heat and pollution of Rome in the summer. The rooms were moderately furnished but comfortable and spacious as European hotels go. They were still renovating and couldn't provide us breakfast but instead they arranged for us to get free breakfasts at a delightful little cafe just a few doors away.

What really impressed us was the friendly and helpful staff. En route from Paris a discount airline (I won't say which one) had lost my bag and they couldn't be reached to even issue a letter for insurance purposes - because they had no employees outside of England. The hotel concierge was amazingly helpful - he was on the phone for several hours calling the airports and airlines trying to help us find the bag (which was great because our Italian is not very good). He lent us a laptop so we could try to contact the airline over the internet. When we finally located the bag, he took delivery of it and held on to it for us all day even though we had already checked out.

It is true that this is not a 5 star hotel - it is small and doesn't boast a lot of extra amenities. But if you are looking for the Hilton or the Sheraton... go stay there. If you want a great little boutique hotel that is a clean, comfortable, attractive alternative, stay at the Lilium.

We stayed at this "boutique" hotel for one night and ultimately switched because of the price. Bottom line, though...this beautiful hotel seemed more like a very clean, newly-renovated, gut-rehabbed apartment.

Frederico, the primary desk manager, was absolutely great.

We were able to walk to this hotel from the train station WITH bags in less than 10 minutes. While it is convenient relative to the train station, it is a little east of a lot of the major sights. There are two VERY convenient bus lines just across the street. One actually takes you directly to St. Peter's Basilica (The Vatican), all for 1 Euro.

One unique and great bonus: they have laptops loners and free internet use..

  • Liked — Staff, cleanliness, free internet, and the room was great.
  • Disliked — A little noisy because our room was situated on a main street.

Booked the Lilium for a Wedding Anniversary break. Not the most romantic of hotels but very sweet. It took the driver over thirty minutes to find as the hotel is located on the third floor of a residential building and has no signs to direct you to it. It is located by a buzzer panel at the main door to the building. There is a delightful lift which takes you to reception and if you don't like lifts you can take the stairs but be prepared, there are quite a few.
Check in was great and staff were exceptionally helpful as I regularly asked for tea or coffee as no facilities in the room, this was provided at no extra charge.
The room was small but we had a beautiful terrace which was lovely, again bathrooms were also small but spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was continental but lovely and beautifully presented. The lady who served breakfast was excellent also and nothing was too much trouble.
Overall we loved our stay but the downside was that the hallways were laminate flooring and you could hear every person returning to their room or the doors locking, the echo was very loud. We could also hear our neighbours talking at night, not exactly the place to go for a passion filled weekend unless your not shy!
Free laptop loan and internet access in the rooms was another perk so we could check in on line.
I would recommend this hotel as it is located so centrally but beware the noise.
