I read in Tripadvisor about an rude older lady serving breakfast there before I booked the hotel. Yes, she is still there and she is still very very rude. We decided to have our breakfast in another room just to avoid seeing her. The breakfast was reasonable. Look for ants in the sugar bottle, they work hard.
The location of the hotel is great, You can see the Coliseum right from the front of the hotel. Two Metro stations only a block or so away. A bus stop right in front that will take you to the Piazza Navona area where you cannot reach by Metro. There are so many restaurants closed by that you will sure find one that fit your budget and taste. There is also a travel agent next door that can help you to book train tickets. Couple grocery stores for fresh fruits, wines, cheese, deli meat and dried fungi porcini (for souvenir).
The front desk service was great. They helped us to book the museum tickets. But please double check the information they provide you, because some of them can give you unnecessary problem, especially if they are not familiar with it and have to look it up for you.
It is hard to find a quad room (sleep 4) in Rome, they have one but is across the street from the hotel. It is on the 3rd floor with no lift, so it will be challenging to carry your luggage up the steep stairs. The air conditioning was not functioning properly 4 of the 5 days we were there, at 40 degree C, it is somewhat uncomfortable. They did fix it the night before we left. The room is clean, so is the bathroom. Once a while, we had to go across the street to get more towels. One thing you have to do is to make sure you throw your soiled towels further away from the rack or check to make sure they do not put it back for you.

We stayed two nights from the 15th to the 17th of September 2009. We stayed in the double room 'Tacito' on the ground floor. We payed 160€, with 10% in advance.

Location:
The location is great, just some hundred meters from the Colosseo. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant (they serve only breakfast), but there are many restaurants close to the hotel. The street the hotel is in is pretty quiet, especially for Rome, and the area felt safe.

Room:
The room had a decent size, with a real double bed, not just two singles. The room had a window out to a very small kind of terrace/courtyard, from where other reviewers have reported noise and lack of privacy. We did not experience this problem, and was not troubled by noise. It isn't really a terrace to sit in, but just a small open space to let light in. There are also some shutters on the window, so privacy shouldn't really be a problem. There is AC in the room as well, wich worked properly and without too much noise. There are several closets where you can hang your clothes. The bathroom was OK but not perfect. The shower was not very new, and seemed like it was installed by an amateur (much silicone around the fixtures). Not too big either, but it worked.

Breakfast:
The breakfast was served from 7.30 to 9.30 I think. The breakfast was good, with rolls, cheese, ham, salami, yam, yoghurt, cereals, juice and a small coffee-bar. The selection of croissants and cakes was enormous. The service was impeccable.

Internet:
The hotel did not have wireless internet, but had a computer in the breakfast area with internet connection. Fifteen minutes a day for each room was free, and you had to pay for access exceeding that. I think they wanted 2€ for half an hour or something.

Service:
The reception was staffed 24 hours a day, and the service was good, and the reception staff spoke well English. Check-out time was 10.00.

We had a nice stay and could recommend this hotel to other travellers. We didn't check very much around, so I can't say how the price is for a hotel in Rome, but I think it has an OK price.

While this hotel is very cheap and in a central location, if this is all you can afford then stay home until you have saved more money.

Behind the busy street Via Nazionale we have found a great (not to big) bed and breakfast hotel. The employés were very kind and the breakfast was very good.. The room we had was cleaned every day. And with the heat of the summer, the aircondtioning did his work good. At the reception there were great people helping us with our questions. One special lady of Iraq (unfortunaly I've lost her name) at the reception helped us very well and speaks many languages. So when she is at work, communicating is no problem.
We curtainly wil recommand our family and friends this hotel when they have the idea to go to Rome.
Thnak you all for a great time at Rome and stay in your hotel.

Good location, within easy walking distance of the Colosseum. Lots of shops/gelato right there. Staff was very helpful and spoke English. Room is small and a little noisy. No elevator. Cleanliness only OK. Breakfast was only OK. Breakfast area was crowded. Worst cappuccino I had while in Europe. Staff recommended La Carbonara, a couple of blocks away, for dinner. It was great.
