Rome is our last destination in Italy and we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Overall experience is not good.

Cons -
A hassle to get to our room. We had been allocated a room in the building across the street. 3 keys were required to get to our room. 1st key - to get inside the building. 2nd key - to enter the apartment that had 3 hotel rooms, after climbing 2 flights of stairs and carrying with us heavy luggages. 3rd key - hotel room key. The building houses other permanent stayers aside from the hotel guests.

Room is cramp and the furnitures looked old. Toilet room is separated from the bathing and sink room. Thus not so convenient. Heater is terribly noisy, especially when other occupancies turn on their water tap. Its so unbearable that we tend to wake very early.

Towels were not changed during our 2 nights stay.

Pros -
Nice breakfast, good service from hotel staff.
Near to Cavour train station, near to Colossuem.

We rented a room for 5 people at this hotel and it was large and very clean. The room had a bedroom and another room with a fridge and two more beds in it. The bathroom was small but had a shower and toilet and a non working bidet. The room had an air conditioner that worked well.
Staff was friendly and courteous and was able to handle our special requests (early check out, directions, bag storage).
Location of hotel was great. Short walk to the Colleseum and close to a major road with main bus routes.
Breakfast was tasty and consisted mostly of pastries, yougurt and coffee.
All in all a good experience.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Anfiteatro Flavio in Rome. The hotel is very central, at walking distance from Stazione Termini and from Via Nazzionale (famous for shopping) and Via Cavour. Very close to the Colosseum, which is lovely - beware of the gladiators because they will rip off your money for taking pics with you!! It happened to us, but we soon learnt the lesson and we only took pics with the first pair of gladiators, the rest we left them begging to show us their forces!! And soon we showed them that we were not interested!!
The room at the hotel, even though a bit small, was comfortable and clean, good for us for a short stay. The only thing that I hated was the elevator which is very small and that the towels are changed every 2 days. However, the room is cleaned daily. Breakfast was very good, having rolls, cold cuts, cereals, yoghurts, cakes, coffee, tea, orange juice, etc. Staff at the breakfast area always served us with a smile and staff at the reception desk were very welcoming and helpful.
Eating out is not a problem, since the hotel is surrounded with very good restaurants. Just down the road, on the way to the Colosseum, there is a corner restaurant named 'Wanted' which serves lovely food. And opposite the hotel there is a Gelateria which has delicioussssssss ice-creams with many flavours, try it, you will not regret it believe me! And for all those who love pasta, a good restaurant very close to Fontana Di Trevi, named L'Allegro Pachino at Via dei Crocifieri, 12/13, serves very tasty dishes!
Overall I must say that I definately recommend this hotel, and quite sure that we may be returning in the near future.

My husband & I have just returned from the Anfiteatro Flavio Hotel, on the positive side it is in a great area, bars & resturants and shops all near by. The sights are all walkable from here.
The reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
We were given a room in an apartment block across the road, the apartment has been converted into 3 letting rooms.
Our room was very cramped and a 3rd bed had been squeezed in, where there really wasn't the space. The bathroom was okay, clean with hairdryer a couple of sachets of shampoo & soap and one towel each, BUT the walls are so thin we could hear every word the family in the next room said and they had 2 children with them...
The breakfast for us was okay pastries, rolls, cornflakes, tea or coffee but the basement room again was very cramped, we were sat facing a wall one morning because they didn't want to make up a table!! The day we came home we needed to have breakfast at 7am, we were told at reception this was okay, shame no one told the unhelpful staff downstairs, who could barely be bothered to give us a coffee.
Overall, it isn't a 3 star hotel and I would recommend looking elsewhere

The hotel is not three star, more like a basic two star. Not too sure when it was refurbished but would suggest that it was several years ago. If you use the photos on the web site to try and locate the hotel you will struggle to find it as the main picture does not show the hotel but a small fountain about 5 mins walk away.

The picture of the room is also a little misleading, they are tiny. The room we stayed in had a very strong smell of poor drains and despite telling the desk staff nothing happended so you had to leave the windows open at all times - if you read some of the historical reviews they had the same problem (hindsight is wonderful) Desk staff were freindly but staff in basement breakfast area were surly and unhelpful and if you dont get there early there will be nothing for you, quite a poor selection and if you arrive near fininshing time they are quite rude and will start to put food away before making your selection.

Location is good but when arriving from the train station be careful with taxi's as they will take you around in a circle and charge you about 35 euro when in fact the fare is about 12 euroi - quite difficult to find you are better using the metro if you can as it is only about 5 mins walk away.

Would not stay here again as there are much better hotels only saving grace is the location.
