We booked this hotel via a shared website of small boutique hotels in Rome. Last year, I spent over a month in Rome and have never experienced anything like this.
Upon check in, we were forced to pay for three nights upfront. There is no elevator and no first floor rooms (not mentioned in their description). The clerk spoke perfect English.
When my mom went to shower, a mouse ran across from the bathroom into the sleeping area. We called the front desk, but the clerk said he only spoke French and would not help.
After a sleepless night in the room, we checked out in the morning. They refused to reimburse me for the room---even for the two nights we didn't stay there. Finally, they gave me a small token of a reimbursement, so they could show American Express they were making a gesture. Since I signed the charge upon check-in American Express is making me pay. It happened in October and I am still angry.
