Good:
+ lovely hosts
+ clean
+ great location (Via Veneto - some kind of Champs Elysee in Rome)

Bad:
- terrible noise (windows are not isolated to the street noise)
- no A/C (in fact it;s only an old ventilation system)
- over-rated - on the site we booked it was rated at 4 stars
- is too expensive for what it is offering, you could find some similar BB's in center Rome under 100EUR
- very atrophyated breakfast
- no phone, no net, no hair-dryer
- cheap investments and upgrades in chambers
- bathroom: no towel change during our 5days stay, no soap, no shampoo
- carelessness for details

The hosts amability and location DO NOT substitute the high price and other deficiencies !!!

Wonderful hostess. Nice spot in Rome.

My daughter and I stayed here for 5 nights. Our room was a delight with lovely period venetian looking doors and lovely shuttered windows. The bathroom was very modern and large. Breakfast was continental and served by Eleanor the properter a lovely lady. She gave us advice every morning as to where to go and the best modes of transport. There is some traffic noise but we got used to this and found it just part of the Rome culture(there are no rules on the roads here!!! I certainly wouldn't recommend getting a car).

The apartment is set on a very famous road in Rome The Via Veneto. It is opossite 'The Mariott Hotel'. There is a huge park 1 minute away which has bikes to hire a number of lakes and ponds and a famous museum.

Rome is truly an amazing city!! You can walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain within 15 - 20 minutes. Transport is good and often. The 116 bus caught near the huge wall takes you to the city and Vatican (1 Euro where ever you go, pay on the bus). The Red Tour Bus 110 caught at the bottom of the Via Veneto Road is 13 Euros a day and you can get on and off at all the major sites all day. I would recommend this as an initial way of getting your bearings.

I would stay at this accomodation again as the location is excellent. I would perhaps say it was 3* not 4*.

We would definitely say it is one of the most amazing places we have ever been.

Stayed at Martina House for four nights at the end of May, 2004. Terrific locacation at the top of the Via Veneto. Hard to locate because no identification on the building. It was on the fifth floor of an nice old building. It was immediately across the street from the Marriott Grand Flora. Our group of three couples took over the place. We used the breakfast area for our evening cocktail parties. (Bought wine and beer at a nearby supermarket.)

Once there, we were treated well by the proprietors, who lived elsewhere in Rome. Very clean and well maintained B & B. Some street noise in spite of dual paned glass windows and shutters. No refrigeration. (We didn't need it because weather was in the low to mid 70's during late May.)

My brother in law called it "a Rick Steves" kind of place. Price value was good for the location.
