This hotel is excellent value for money and since it is slightly out of the city centre, you are staying in a quiet residential area which is peaceful and relaxing. It's fairly easy to get there (take the 'Linea H - Via Dei Capasso' bus from the terminus next to the train station and its about 20 minutes journey). Once you get there, the staff will provide you with maps and details of public transport routes (they are also happy to give information on areas not included in the tourist maps if you require it). Transport runs 24 hours and the hotel is located within a 10 to 20 minute bus ride (varies depending on time of day and season of course) of attractions such as the Vatican City, Trastevere and Rome centre for Coloseum etc.

The hotel has a fantastic atmosphere and was very busy when we stayed there. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, attractive and some (including ours) have an external access onto the common courtyard which makes it easy to leave/return to the hotel at various times without having to pass through reception.

The courtyard area is a lovely place to sit in the morning with a coffee and some breakfast (the range of food is relatively small but very very good) and chat to the other guests if you like. Also good to sit there later in the day and relax.

So, good value for money we found and will book again next time we are in Rome.

I was reading the reviews, and failed to see dates, but I just came back from my trip to Rome. It may all depend what you're looking for. As many things, price gives you an idea of what you'll get. It was my first time in Italy, first time in Europe for that matter. I went there alone, to get to see this beautiful city, Rome. I didn't plan to spend much time in my room.
From a solo traveler, with free time all day and everyday and no time constraints, this place was perfect. Get up early to enjoy breakfast: during my stay, consisted of the following:
Coffee machine which gave choices of coffee, cappuccino, macchiato, hot milt, tea...etc. Spreadable cheese and packed up crunchy toast. Bread (toaster provided), hard boiled eggs, yogurts, OJ, cereal / milk, fresh bread (sweet & croissants), other pastries... more than I expected...and you serve yourself.

The room, was perfect: comfortable, warm, clean. Cleaning is done daily and they kindly advise you that sheets would not be changed until every 3 days - environmentally friendly!

I brought my own towel and own shampoo/soap...etc. - if you finish theirs (which i didn't use) not sure if they leave more.

It's withing a residential area - it's safe - many elderly Italians living in these areas, preschool in corner, dance studio down the road, fish market, pharmacy, fruit/veggie small market and several surrounding bars (bar = place to eat... not "bar as in alcoholic beverages).

Restaurants in the area - go to corner restaurant down main street "Schiave..." cross streets (via Bravetta / S. Silvetre) better than all surrounding restaurants, EXCELLENT food / prices! don't forget - dinner starts around 7-8pm!...

Public transportation is awesome - there are buses on main street - come often and takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Vatican (to give a major site point). It takes about 10 minutes to get to a stop where you can take the Metro and head to your next destination there.

Enjoy your stay and see for yourself - be positive and just enjoy!

I stayed in Il Castelletto during Easter (photo 2), It was rainy,(photo 3) but that went for all the hotels in Rome in that period. The hotel is in Bravetta, but once I knew how simple it was to reach Trastevere and the centre of Rome with public transport, I was happy with this choice. The rooms are cleaned daily, the beds are good and so is the buffet-breakfast. The staff is very friendly, helpfull and provided a sunny atmosphere (photo 1). It is an excellent price-quality-balance. I'll be back in summer to enjoy the locals and the sheltered terrace.

Having read other reviews of the Hotel I was slightly worried, however I was pleasantly surprised that the Hotel was clean, the bed comfortable, Hotel Receptionist Georga was very helpful and spoken excellent English. Breakfast was continental help your self, Bed comfortable, room cleaned everyday. free soap and shampoo in room and towels each day. only 15 Mins on Number 98 bus to Vatican. found the locals very helpful the hotel is in the middle of a residential street at the back of the main road. would stay there again no hesitation. There are no Tea or Coffee making facility in the room so it makes you get up to go down for breakfast if you want a cuppa in the morning. We stayed out all day and then had a meal before we went back to the hotel at night, we were able to sit out side in the hotel with our own bottle of wine and watch the world go by. If we wanted to there was a bar at the end of the street which served small bar snacks as well. For the price of the hotel and the location it was excellent.

We were in this hotel in February 2007.

Ok, just a few points about the hotel:

1) Location: the website stated that it is located close to the city centre and Vatican. Well, if you call a 45 minute trip by bus (because this is how long it takes to get to any attractions) a short distance, than they are right...

2) Staff: the staff consists of 1 person. He is always there - which is good. He does not speak any language apart from Italian. He is not helpful at all. The only person there who speaks English is the cleaning lady.

3) The room. Well... rather depressive and small, with uncomfortable double bed and terrible shower (which was stuck, so you had to stand in a lot of water).

4) Breakfast: hmm... a special Il-castelletto style with old toast bread, a very limited choice of additions, old butter and cold tea.

5) Bar / kitchen: we searched for it. We did not find it. All you can get is a soft drink or a beer coming out from a machine.

So... don't go to THAT hotel if you have a choice.
