We just returned from a 2 night stay at the Fortyseven Hotel before departing on a Med cruise. Our party of seven we very pleased with this hotel. The rooms were elegantly decorated in soft muted colors and were spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and none of our group experienced any traffic noises. Our room was on the fifth floor and had a huge balcony with lemon trees. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were absolute heaven- sitting in the outdoor enclosed garden with relaxing music playing in the background. The scrambled eggs and the multigrain bread were delicious! We all agreed that we would definitely return to the Fortyseven Hotel if, or rather when, we return to Rome!

Nice modern hotel, friendly staff. Loved the location just accross from Trastevere (for dinner and drinks!), next to the Roman Forum, and in walking distance of everything - if you're reasonable fit.

We stayed at Hotel Forty Seven from May 5-12th. Prior to our arrival, the hotel offered to arrange a car for us. The driver was waiting for us. He helped us with our bags and took us directly to the hotel in his black mercedes sedan for 50 euros. It was well worth it. Upon our request, the hotel arranged for the same service to return us to the airport.

We had a deluxe room and check in was very efficient. Our room was sparkling clean and looked exactly the same as the pictures on the website. The people working in the lobby were gracious and helpful. They gave me a free internet access card to use on the lobby computer.

Husband and I had breakfast every morning downstairs in the beautiful courtyard. The ladies working the buffet area brought me a pot of coffee and a pitcher of warmed milk. I loved the granola, yogurt and multi grained bread you could slice yourself. The husband loved the caprese (tomato/mozzerella), salami, ham, eggs, etc. We stayed 7 nights at the Forty Seven and never tired of the breakfast. Late one evening we went to the roof restaurant for a drink. We waited about 30 minutes and left after being ignored.

The bathroom in our room had a great shower. It was very large and had one of those rain shower heads that came from the ceiling instead of the wall. The towels were soft, thick and very absorbent. Even the soap and lotion were good!

The bed was very comfortable. When we returned from a day full of sightseeing, our bed was made, yummy chocolates and a weather forecast for the following day were left on the pillow! The air conditioning worked great. We used the noise reduction/room darkening screen on our window. There is a safe in the room.

We walked alot to the attractions. Also we rode the city bus that stops right next door to the hotel.

I would highly recommend Fortyseven Hotel if you're considering it for your next trip. Rooms are very modern and extremely clean. Room blackout shades were so effective we accidentally slept until 3PM the day after our red-eye flight! However, noise levels outside were high following a pivotal win by the national football team, causing a different night to be sleepless.

There was a wide variety at breakfast, especially for my vegetarian husband. Food quality and freshness was top-notch.

Location is great if you're looking to be close, but not too close, to all the sites. The short walk to Travestere for dinner each night was a highlight of our trip. The bus stops right outside the hotel for easy access to more distant sites.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They helped us figure out the city busses, made several excellent dinner recommendations, and answered a few general questions that helped us plan our visit better.

Decor/ambiance: refreshingly modern rooms and public spaces, although not the best we've seen in the 4/5-star category
Room/Cleanliness: spacious (for Euro standard), very comfortable and clean
Amenities: nice, basic amenities and following extras (note about weather forecast nightly, voucher for 1 gratis cocktail per guest during stay); includes outlet in bathroom for US plug but NOT grounded (problematic)
Breakfast: great with wide selection
Service: reliable, though not out of the ordinary, and friendliness is hit-and-miss (still, above average for Rome, I guess, but that doesn't say much)

Main Complaint: charge for Wi-fi in room and net access in lobby! It is shocking that in 2009 a 4-star hotel in a major city would not include at least wi-fi in-room in the current rate, especially at these rates. I expect and don't mind paying higher rates to travel comfortably and stay in 4+ star hotels so no complaint there, but it's inadequate, short-sighted, backward-thinking and well, unrefined, for a hotel such as 47 to nickel-and-dime on what is now such a basic, modern convenience for its target market. This isn't the norm, even in Italy, because we stayed at another generally comparable hotel that did include both wi-fi and net access in lobby at no additional charge.
