“Great Hotel but beware Design Defect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2008

Interior decor: minimalist design, clean lines, elegant, boutique atmosphere.
Location: one of the best locations for a hotel in Rome? superb in this respect.
Staff: extremely efficient and helpful. No complaints there.
Food: expensive and not to a very high standard as you would expect for the price (much in common with many restaurants in Rome) although the terrace setting is spectacular.
Breakfast: excellent start to the day, delicious.
Rooms: clean, well-equipped, no views (not such a problem in a city like Rome where you will spend a lot of time outside of your room) and no sound insulation. I was in room 104 and could hear noise from above and next door. Conversations could be heard clearly and moving chairs/furniture caused great disturbance during the night. Light sleepers should take this into serious consideration when selecting this hotel should they wish to have privacy and quiet. That such a great hotel could be spoilt by such a fundamental design fault is a great pity. Of course, floors on higher rooms may not be so badly affected.
Terrace bar: great setting and a definite bonus.
So, overall a great hotel with a lot going for it, particularly the location which is extremely convenient, but spoiled by a basic design fault.

“Our favorite hotel in Rome”

Fortyseven has it all; location, top quality staff, attractive design, high level of attention to details, sparkling clean, large and beautifully designed rooms, grand baths, and on and on. The staff of Fortyseven was extraordinary; they made us feel welcome and were very helpful during our tour of Rome. Our 3 night stay was the best of our month long tour of Europe. For us it is by far the best 4 star hotel in Rome and better than many 5 star hotels. On our next visit to Rome we will return to Hotel Fortyseven. We were very happy and satisfied.

“fantastic hotel”

i stayed in this hotel with my wife and two friends during our stay in rome in april 2006. we all found the hotel to be spotlessly clean and very friendly. everything was of a very hgh standard and we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff. the rooms and food were excellant. the hotel has a great roof terrace with beautiful views over rome. we spent our evenings there sipping cool drinks after long days sightseeing. a great way to end the day....the hotel was very central to all the tourist attractions which were all within easy walking distance (if you are reasonably fit). a great hotel which we would all recommend very highly.

“New Year's Eve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2008

After reviewing feedback on this site I decided to book Fortyseven Hotel, contacting them directly. At time of reservation they suggested me to spend new year's eve on the rooftoop terrace where a party was organised. We enjoyed it very much. Good ambiance, great view and delicious food.
I definitely recommed this hotel, value for money!

“Great Locale to start a Walking Tour Through Rome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2008

We just got back from our Dec/Jan honeymoon and our stay at Fortyseven was one of the highlights.
--Great location for walking to ruins of Forum & Colosseo, Capitoline Museums, Aventine Hill (if you're not into museums, come here to see Michaelangelo's courtyard and the view of the city)
--Outstanding design: I've read in a few guidebooks that the decor of Fortyseven is "asexual" and "boring." It isn't...its soft, modern, inviting, and roomy, especially for Rome! The linens are top quality and the bathroom is beautiful
--Service: front desk staff was fab! They gave good directions, spoke excellent English, called taxis for us, and were both friendly and professional
--Food: we got in late the first night, so we ate at the restaurant. While pricier than some of our other meals, it was one of the highest quality meals we had. Try the bolognese, which was definitely made with fresh pasta. We also had tea in the lobby just about every afternoon post-sightseeing. Service was excellent then, too.
--these highlights are all in comparison to a much more expensive and truly sucky hotel we stayed in on the same trip, at the top of the Spanish Steps.

Some tips:
--there aren't a lot of restaurants or wine bars in the immediate vicinity, so if you're looking for a quick walk to nightlife, this isn't the spot. But it is a short cab ride (or a long walk) to the lively nightlife areas of Trastevere and Piazza Navona.
--we didn't have a view from our room (which isn't important to us), but if that's important to you, ask at the desk for a room facing the temple.
--walk up to the top of the Aventine Hill for the Sant'Anselmo monastery (they have a little shop of monk-made chocolates, soaps, and liquor that's good for gift souvenirs) and the keyhole view of St. Peter's Dome from the Priory of Malta. A little gem of a walk we found.
--Try Al Presidente, a restaurant near the Trevi Fountain. Our best meal in Rome.
