“Excellent Hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 12 year old son for 4 nights during the Easter break and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel in a great location.

We had a triple room which had plenty of space for us - my son had his own space with a single bed and desk. The hotel is within walking distance of everywhere with some lovely restaurants, bars and cafes just around the corner.

Breakfast is great - plenty of choice and you should try the cappuccino.

Raffaello was a charming small hotel on a quiet street with excellent rooms, service, and location near the main train station, the opera, the Forum, and the Colosseum. The neighborhood was a welcome respite from the crowded tourist area around the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. Lots of good restaurants nearby. We especially enjoyed the extensive breakfast. The four of us agreed we will definitely stay here on our next visit to Rome.

Dear guest,

As I previously wrote, Monti, the district where Raffaello is situated, ..is actually older than the Colosseum: it is dated before Nero's times... :)

Coming back to ourselves, we are glad you enjoyed your staying here, and we are even gladder we had something to do with it (even though I wasn't personally there :D ).
We hope you will decide your return will be faster than soon, and that you will be able to have even a better impression, if that is possible. :)
Until then,
Best and warmest regards!
Elena

This hotel was centrally located, very clean and all of the staff was very friendly. I was travelling alone and also felt very safe and comfortable in the hotel and in the neighborhood as well. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone travelling alone or with family and friends.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your brief, concised and pocsitive review! :)

Raffaello's position is one of its strenght points: 5 minutes from the main train station, and close to other 2 metro station, of both lines: A, nad B...
Even though central, Rafaello is "hidden" on a small cubble-stoned street, full of small restaurants, handcraft shops, groceries, drugstore and a lot more to be discovered. Not a lot of persons know that Monti, the neighbourhood that hosts Raffaello, ...is one of the oldest Roman districts : actually is is older than the Colosseum... :)

Once again, thank you: for having chosen us, ...and for having shared the positive opinion you had over us. :)
Regards,
Elena

We stayed for 2 nights in the Hotel Raffaello and would definitely recommend it.

The staff were warm and friendly and the accommodation itself was clean, close to everything and breakfast was lovely.

When we arrived we were far too early thanks to the super-fast train and the lovely reception staff organised pastries and coffee for us in case we wanted to wait in the hotel until our room was ready. This was a really thoughtful touch as we were quite tired from traveling and other hotels we have stayed in have simple taken our luggage and sent us on our way, so we were very grateful!

The location of the hotel is terrific and we were able to explore the city (and fall in love with it) with a calm, clean and quiet base to come home to.

Generally, we prefer to stay in B&B's rather than hotels, as sometimes it can feel a bit cold and sterile in a hotel, but the people at the Raffaello made it a lovely experience, organising our luggage and a bottle of wine for us, being considerate, thoughtful and gentle with two tired honeymooners! They even found my lost iphone down the street!

I would definitely recommend the hotel!
Thank you again!

...But until then..best wishes, and..have a marriage as wonderfula as you! :)

This property DESERVES perfect score across the board, but ONE staff member delivered as a scammer, self serving, and celry functioning on kickbacks somewhere. Elena came across with an insincere scamming mentality, trying to pressure book Vatican tours with "her" recommended guides ($100 Euro MORE expensive than just going to the Vatican and doing a guide from there and beat the lines). She did a song and dance about this "traditional" restaurant which ended up being some Americanized version of a diluted pub crawl. She KILLED this place and should NOT be there.
For the Hotel proper, it was a perfect location, with great front desk team, porters, housekeeping and breakfast staff. The property is a PERFECT score but we must impress to the owners of this property that Elena and her self serving not only effected us, but other guests.
The room was a great size, clean, very comfortable and very well appointed for our 4 nights in Rome.

Definitely STAY here and enjoy the best of Roman hospitality.

Dear DerekSanderson,
my name is Antonio Pelosi and I am the owner of Hotel Raffaello.

First of all, I want to thank you for your advise, and I am sure that had I had your feeling, I would have reacted the same way.

Nevertheless, I think that you mistook Elena's kindness into a "scamming" attitude: in fact, she is always very kind and careful the guests really enjoy the city, and she often gives lots of advices (even not asked). In simple words, "she cares". So it's possible to suspect personal advantage in her suggestions: but it is not the case.

First, and only for example, becuase out of the Vatican Museums, there are lots of guides (many of them are not authorised, for example) so that it's possible to get better rates: but it's not possible to judge about the quality of the tour ...

Second, have you seen how many reviews praise Elena? many many people praise Elena or on TripAdvisor or in an off-line way: so is it possible that so many people have not seen her real intentions?

Nevertheless, I thank you once more even if you didn't change my mind, and I hope that next time you will leave our hotel with a different opinion.

Antonio

My husband and I stayed here pre-cruise for 3 nights. First time in Rome for both of us. Centrally located for what we wanted to visit. Within walking distance for almost everything. The hotel was very clean, the breakfast fantastic and the staff were great. Very accomodating and gave us ideas/suggestions/tips on navigating our way around as well as great recommendations for local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend!

Dear guest,

"Wow" would be our first words, and a "Thank you very much" would follow, so...WOW! and...THANK YOU! :)

We are more than glad we were able to help you enjoy the Eternal City to the maximum. As clichè as it might sound or seem, ...we are trully here for our guests, and we do try to always do our best in order to allow them to enjoy the most of their holidays, and our satisfaction is huge when we can do this, so once again, thank you : first of all, for having chosen us, second of all, for having trusted our suggestions, adn third, ...for having shared with the others your positive experience with us.

At the end, we hope to have the chance of hosting you again soon. But until then, we wish you a serene and bright year!
Regards,
Elena

My son and I stayed for four nights around Easter time. The reception staff are great, speak perfect English and give out plenty of advice as to where to visit, eat etc.
Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Shower was a little small and claustrophobic but worked fine.
Mini bar prices are not extortionate as the hotel does not have a bar. Breakfast was good with a varied buffet selection of pastries, cold meats, cheeses, cereals etc.
It is well located for all the usual attractions especially the coliseum. The Centrico Storico area is about 15 minutes walk. We found it easier to walk around Rome rather than use public transport.

Dear guest,

Thank you for having shared your opinion with the other Tripadvisor users, whom we would like to remind they have a special discount with us. :)

Coming back to us, we are delighted you enjoyed your Roman holiday, but most of all, ..we are happy you enjoyed our hotel.

Raffaello's position, as you personally emphasized, is one of its power points, along with the services we continuously try to improve, or add: the hydromassage showers (the reason for which they become a little smaller would be this... ), the concierge service, the minibar, and a lot more (we will let the others discover us on their own.. :) ).

Hoping you will have a serene year, and maybe you will honour us again soon with a new staying, we wish you all the best! :)
Regards,
Elena
