“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

We booked this hotel because of the reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is well positioned and our room on the first floor was clean, comfortable and looked great. It was an added extra having tea and coffee available for the guests 24 hours a day. This hotel is excellent value!!

Dear guest,

Thank you for such an honest and positive review, I will take advantage of the moment just to remind all Tripadvisor users have a special discount.
We are very happy you liked Raffaello so much, that is why we are here for : we are continuously trying to outgo ourselves, and services like the lounge with the free computer use, the coffee and the tea machine, where a week ago we added a vending machine, ...are just a part of the commitment we make for our guests' welbeing...
As Christmas is happily knocking at the door, ...Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
We hope we will have you back soon!
Warmest wishes,
Elena

Good location , 5-10 minutes from Termini station, 5 minutes from Colosseum and Forum , 30 minutes of easy walk to other major attractions . Very helpful staff , special thanks to Elena , who's recommendations about what to do and where to go made our stay very effective and pleasant . Breakfast was great. For sure we will recommend our friends to stay in this hotel .

Having read the great reviews, we were expecting a lot from this hotel - and we were not disappointed. We stayed four nights to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary in a room with a rooftop terrace. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - Elena, Francesca and Massimo. It started with a much appreciated gift in our room, through the pillow menu, to the excellent breakfast facilities with the bright and bubbly waitresses. Add to this the hotel's fantastic location at easy walking distance from Termini, Coliseum, and other attractions means there is no reason to look elsewhere in the Eternal City.

Mmmm, having just read some of the reviews written whilst we were away there is almost nothing to add… but perhaps I can give a few extra details for fellow travellers.
We found Hotel Raffaello via Trip Advisor and as it is so rare to have consistently good reviews, we made a reservation (we did not book at our previously used hotel in Rome, as Trip Advisor reviews stated that the hotel had gone downhill since our visit).
Incidentally, Hotel Raffaello has excellent systems – immediate confirmation of our reservation was followed up with reminders of our reservation prior to travel, together with contact by Elena, the hotel’s Concierge, asking what she could do to help make our stay more enjoyable.
Our three night stay was pre-cruise from nearby Civitavecchia and the hotel’s position, ten minutes walk from Termini (Rome’s main train station) was helpful. With pull-along cases, there was no need for a taxi, another bonus!
If walking from the station, we found the best route to Hotel Raffaello is to turn left out of the main station entrance to the bus station (Plaza del Cinquecento). Look to the main road on the left and on the opposite side of the road is a pharmacy, lit with a green cross. Cross the road to the pharmacy and turn left, hard by it. This is Via Cavour. Cross Via Cavour to the other side and walk down it to the sixth road on the right, Via Ruinaglia. At the end of Ruinaglia, you’ll find Hotel Raffaello immediately on the left-hand corner in Via Urbana. Via Ruinaglia is a tiny road but is not cobbled which Via Urbana is – we found it easier with our wheeled luggage to use Ruinaglia.
We were welcomed by Francesca who made us feel we had made the correct choice of hotel. Our room was delightful – the often found in Italian hotel silk wall coverings shimmering a welcome. The bathroom was small but functional although two minor criticisms here: the shower unit with multi-jets had cracked from presumably heavy use by past travellers and the lack of bathroom shelving. However, minor niggles would never prevent another stay. Our bed was very comfortable and as has been mentioned, we choose from the pillow menu – all provided with a smile.
The breakfast room was bright and welcoming with as has been stated, a good selection of varied foods, hot and cold. One lovely addition was a dish of baked apples – a first for well-travelled us in this category hotel. The helpful breakfast staff were multi-lingual, cheerful and provided my hot chocolate with a smile.
Elena, the Concierge has a desk in the foyer and is at hand to help with destinations and travel around the city. She provided a very helpful map and as we wanted to walk to Castel Sant’Angelo, showed us the best pedestrian route (unfortunately for my husband, this went by many shops….!). It is worth asking Elena for help with even minor queries as she has a wealth of knowledge – and the hotel also holds a small library of guide books on Rome for guests to peruse when Elena is off duty – very helpful.
Hotel Raffaello seems to have many things right – well trained staff, with welcoming dispositions, comfortable rooms, and good breakfasts – we feel it is a good find. Although we were to embark on a cruise, we were quite reluctant to leave the hotel, as our stay had been so comfortable and relaxing. We will return!

Room Tip: The Hotel is in a quiet area so little general traffic noise.

Very happy I chose Hotel Raffaello after extensive searching on Tripadvisor. Great location in Monti, a "real" (not too full of tourists) area of Rome. Over the 8 nights I stayed, I used to feel like I was coming home at the end of each day. ALL the staff - front desk, housekeeping and the breakfast team - made me feel welcome, and tended to all my needs. And as a solo female guest that was much appreciated. Sorry, but I really can't think of any negatives to relay. I would definitely stay there again and would never chose a big, impersonal, hotel. Elena, the concierge, was especially efficient in answering all the email correspondence in advance of my stay and advising and helping me book tours when I was there.
