We stayed at the Hotel Giorgi for 4 nights this past August, and overall had a positive experience. The staff (one guy in particular was there almost all the time, I swear he never slept) was very friendly and helpful. We arrived early in the morning on the first day and left in the evening on the last day, but they were very accomodating with storing our luggage and letting us hang out in the air conditioned lobby during the heat of the day (Rome is scorching in August).

Our room had air conditioning, we just had to phone to the front desk to turn it on. We had a TV and a fridge, and lots of space in our room. The elevator was one of those rickety old things you see on the movies, and didn't work if people didn't close the door properly, but most of the time it worked fine.

The location was great, with the Stazione Termini only a couple of minutes away. From there we could ride the train, or more conveniently in Rome, the bus. We even discovered as the trip went on that we could walk most places in about a half hour or so.

The breakfast was good, and there was lots of food. There's also a supermarket just about a block away to buy snacks, water, etc.

No complaints.

I was there with a friend. The room was pretty small but clean. The location is perfect - just a 5 minutes walk to the Termini. The young staff was helpful - speaking English. The old staff was rude. The bar wasn't open as told in the evening and we had to go out in pouring rain to look for a place to have some coffee. As there was a construction going on right next to our room, terrible noise started at 7 a.m. and very unpleasant. We had to ask for a remote control for the TV and find out that there were only Italian channels - no international TV.
2 elevators to change- the modern one OK but the old one like something from the beginning of the 20th century...
I liked it but my friend didn't.

Two minutes from Rome Terminii, Metro and bus station so easy to go anywhere in Rome and further afield

Hotel was clean and the rooms comfortable. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was above the norm for the class of Italian hotel although more and more Italian hotels are providing better choice than the coffee and rolls or old.

Only minor complaint was that the two breakfast staff could be overwhelmed with keeping the buffett topped up and serving coffee and tea especially when the breakfast room was full

  • Liked — location & comfort
  • Disliked — slow re-fill of buffett

A unfortunate stay in room 303

If you check the website for the Giorgi, you will find a picture of a charming room nicely decorated and very appealing. We did not have that room. As earlier reviewers have noted, room 303 is in an older part of the hotel and in serious need of renovation. There is no carpet on the floor, the wallpaper is starting to come off the walls, and the shower is broken. When we arrived at 2:30 in the afternoon, the room was not ready (which we were not told until we had hauled our luggage up in the ancient closet-like elevator). We did gain access to the room to leave our luggage. The room had an unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom. Fortunately, when we returned and the room was clean and the odor was gone.

If you check out the hotel on Expedia, you will see that the Hotel advertises things such as Climate Control, High Speed Internet, and Bathrobes. The front desk controlled the air-conditioning. There was one computer near the breakfast room for the use of the entire hotel, which costs 2 euro/half hour. On the second day of our stay, we returned to the room to find that my husband's robe (his personal robe--not one provided by the hotel) was missing. Evidently, housekeeping removed it with the dirty towels. No one knew what happened to it and no one cared. Will we stay there again? I think not.

This was an expensive hotel and did not come up to the standards of the supposed lesser hotels we stayed at in Nice, Venice, and Florence. Although it was very conveniently located near the train station and metro, I would prefer a hotel more on the outskirts of Rome next time.

  • Liked — Convenient to transportation.
  • Disliked — Did not get a very good room for the money spent.

Charming hotel with a great location. The staff is a little less than excited about doing anything for you . Not rude but you must ask-they are not going to offer anything.
