We stayed at the Daphne Hotel on March 17, 2009. It was my third night in Rome and a friend's first. We wanted a place that would be quiet for sleeping, but in a good location. The Daphne Veneto was that and more.

Elyssa gave us a great walking tour of Rome's historic center with suggestions for stops along the way. The personalized treatment was great and the walk was perfect for an afternoon's activity.

I'd definitely stay at the Daphne again. The only down-side is that it is pricier than most places I like to stay. But it is really a beautiful spot.

first, let me say that i am here in rome on business, and given that, i really don't recommend the daphne. when i've needed something, i've had to call four or five different phone numbers--most of which go directly to voice mail. when the cab dropped me off, i had a hard time finding the place, as there is only the smallest sign next to an unmarked door, so i called reception--straight to voice mail.

And, one of the best benefits here, which is wireless Internet--the service has been super spotty.

If you're saving your pennies, and this type of stuff won't matter to you while you're on vacation, then daphne could be a great bet--the rooms and vibe are very modern and stylish and very clean. that being said, my room was a single room (one of the cheapest in the hotel) and was a box.

The staff is super warm and friendly, but don't expect any knowledge about higher end restaurants. perhaps my expectations are too high--fair enough. They seem extremely focused on leisure travelers, and on that, i think they do extremely well--emailing in advance and seeking our request and trying to be helpful, and certainly, when i had questions, they were able to answer them quite well and with warmth, which is a lot more that i can say than a lot of places.

That being said, i stayed at the holiday inn express the week before in Rome, and i was able to email documents at 1:00 am, get them printed, and the internet worked just fine...

again, it's all about priorities...

if i were on a serious budget and on vacation, i'd consider staying here...

All i can say is wow! was impressed with this hotel service before i even got to Rome. they were very responsive in e-mails, taking the time to detail exactly how to get there from either airport and offering an itinary for us to make the most of our stay.

Myself and friend booked a room each and we were on the 4th floor. There are only two rooms on the 4th floor and this is where the breakfast is held in a morning but the other guests can only come in during breakfast ours so we had the whole floor to ourselves, our communal area with sofa, laptop and free internet, the breakfast room, kitchen, then our two bedrooms and a bathroom each. The bed was SO comfy and big. The bathroom was gorgeous, although the shower was warm it was not hot. so it was like our own flat, we would bring a bottle of wine back on a night and sit in our lounge. Breakfast was lovely.

The hotel was in a great location near a metro although you can walk around the centre you may want a metro to the colosseum and to the vatican so you have energy left for exploring there. This wasn't really a typical hotel, more like the Daphnee Inn owned a few of the flats in a private building. The staff were amazingly helpful, recommending anything and everything we wanted.

All in all a fantastic place i have no problems recommending!

  • Liked — The fact it felt like home and the comfy bed!
  • Disliked — the warm shower. Not too cold at all so was fine to have a shower but not as hot as i would like

Having read the reviews here, I chose to stay with my girlfriend for our first visit in Rome. Well: the location is perfect, REAL walking distance from Veneto, Spanish Steps, Condotti, Fontana di Trevi and Barberini's(affordable) market, ie the places that you need to revisit (shopping, restaurants, romantic walks). We also walked to piazza Navona, Pantheon and Colloseum, there are 20min walk away but again you need to go once to each of them. In addition, its ON the Barberini metro station so we went to Vatican with metro and we could go EVERYWHERE but we prefered to walk for better view. Believe me, you cant ask for more convenient place than that. Staff: VIP service at a B&B!! Unmistaken personalised advice for restaurants, help with anything, friendly, breakfast to go, great cappuccinos, generous breakfast and finally "thank you" e-mail!! The room had excellent bathroom and enough space to handle shopping (appr. 20 squares metres). The decoration is modern and has nothing to do with the rest of the oldish rome hotels. There is free internet as well. The price we payed was 170 euros per night (high season price for cash) and I think they deserve it.

We contacted the Daphne six months before our visit to Rome and were so surprised when they informed us that they were all sold out! When they contacted us approximately two weeks before our visit, we jumped at the chance to fill in on a cancellation.

From the get-go, I was amazed by the Daphne's level of service. They immediately sent us directions to the hotel, and information of use to our stay (maps, restaurant recommendations). I cannot say enough about the level of service.

The lodging itself is unique. You are basically sharing an apartment with one other suite, and your bathroom (although private) is outside your suite. That means you have to use your robe to move between your room and bathroom (as do your neighbours) and make sure you do not lock yourself out!

Aside from this oddity, we found the room to be very comfortable and large enough (bearing in mind how small rooms in Europe can be). The bed was really comfortably, and the bathroom was modern and spacious. The walls are a bit thin, though, and we were forced to try to sleep through our neighbours odd hours.

The breakfasts were adequate, but not exceptional. Good selection of yogurt, cereal, meat, cheese and pastries. However, I am always surprised at how many places try to serve "tourist" fare - ie. Swiss cheese, generic salami, instead of the local food! We would really have liked some Italian cheese and meats, and some more authentic breads...Italian food is so good, why serve imported German flatbread?? You could, however, order a coffee which was a nice touch.

Overall, I think good value for Rome and great if you are not interested in staying in a hotel.
