We contacted the Daphne six months before our visit to Rome and were so surprised when they informed us that they were all sold out! When they contacted us approximately two weeks before our visit, we jumped at the chance to fill in on a cancellation.

From the get-go, I was amazed by the Daphne's level of service. They immediately sent us directions to the hotel, and information of use to our stay (maps, restaurant recommendations). I cannot say enough about the level of service.

The lodging itself is unique. You are basically sharing an apartment with one other suite, and your bathroom (although private) is outside your suite. That means you have to use your robe to move between your room and bathroom (as do your neighbours) and make sure you do not lock yourself out!

Aside from this oddity, we found the room to be very comfortable and large enough (bearing in mind how small rooms in Europe can be). The bed was really comfortably, and the bathroom was modern and spacious. The walls are a bit thin, though, and we were forced to try to sleep through our neighbours odd hours.

The breakfasts were adequate, but not exceptional. Good selection of yogurt, cereal, meat, cheese and pastries. However, I am always surprised at how many places try to serve "tourist" fare - ie. Swiss cheese, generic salami, instead of the local food! We would really have liked some Italian cheese and meats, and some more authentic breads...Italian food is so good, why serve imported German flatbread?? You could, however, order a coffee which was a nice touch.

Overall, I think good value for Rome and great if you are not interested in staying in a hotel.

I just can't say enough about this hotel. Actually it is part of a condominium complex. We shared a two room suite on the first floor with another couple. The room between our two bedrooms was a great place to gather for a glass of wine after a long day or to check email on the hotel's computer. The rooms were spacious compared to other hotels we've stayed in in Rome. The most impressive part of the whole experience was the helpfulness of the staff. Weeks before we were scheduled to arrive, I received emails from them asking if they could help us with our itineraries. They offered to book tours, have a car pick us up from the airport, and even sent a list of events that were occurring in Rome during the time we were to be there. They were very accommodating. The whole time we were there, the staff helped us with numerous arrangements and recommendations. They were very knowledgable, friendly and welcoming. We had a wonderful experience at the Hotel Daphne and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Much better than I was expecting

Great location, nice, modern, clean rooms; good breakfast. Absolutely fantastic and helpful staff which makes a huge difference. Only downside was our room had external (via the hallway) entry to the bathroom, which was still private bathroom.
Free internet/laptop use in common area

Good value, would stay again.

Overall highly recommend it.

This is a great location, knowledgable, friendly staff. It is definitely a bargain place. It is very clean, comfortable beds, the rooms are very small unless you luck out and get the suite that has a large bathroom with a huge bath tub. The only problem is that you cannot reserve these rooms. I thought that I had made it clear in an email that I needed a large room with the bathtub but upon check-in we were told it was not available however, after our third night they moved us into this room. I suggested to the managment to up the price for the suite so that guests would not be surprised upon arrival. We actually enjoyed our stay here and it sure beat spending $600 or $700 a night in Rome. Also, the breakfast was very good.

  • Liked — Staff and the central location
  • Disliked — Small rooms, if you get one of the suites then it is great.

We (my mother and I) stayed at Daphne Veneto at the beginning of April and had an amazing time. The staff just couldn't do enough for us - without being intrusive in any way .

They made us restaurant reservations each night and chatted to us about what kind of evening we wanted and then found the right restaurant to match. Try Glass in Trastevere or Coline Amiliane which is just the other side of Piazza Berberini, Glass was AMAZING, the wine list was like an encyclopedia (all Italian of course) and the food was modern Italian.

The room was lovely, nothing flashy but just nicely decorated and with really comfy beds. I've never slept so well in a single. There was of course no tv but to be honest I wouldn't have watched it anyway and there was a laptop provided free of charge so you could keep up with the news through that.

The breakfast was delicious, delicious freshly made espresso/cappucino/latte/tea/hot chocolate and fresh strawberries or melon, cornetti, bread rolls, ham, salami, cheese, yoghurts, jam, honey, cereal, apples, bananas etc. only a minor draw back is that the juice wasn't fresh squeezed i don't think but was still good quality.

It really felt like having our own apartment in Rome, we had a bathroom outside of our room but it was private and huge, the shower was ok, not great. It was a nice touch to give fluffy white robes so getting to and from the shower was easier.

The location was brilliant, its a really nice part of Rome. Close enough to all the sights to walk except maybe for the Colloseum and Forum and the Vatican if you don't like walking. I think the best way to see Rome is on foot as you miss so much on the underground and really everything is close together.

All in all it was a wonderful stay, i'd recommend following the staffs advice on where to eat etc. except on Armandos which they repeatedly suggested...it just wasn't anything special and the Italians there seemed to be getting much better service and food than us, maybe we just made bad choices!? Regardless, book the Daphne Inn, its definately worth it.

  • Liked — The service, the rooms...everything really!
  • Disliked — No complaints
