We have just returned from our stay and felt completely taken by this hotel. Sam, the proprieter, had noticed we had been double booked and never bothered to inform us until it was too late. He lied about commissions and fees associated with on-line bookings. He made us pay cash for our room and then charged our credit card for two nights for the double booking. He FAX'd us information for tour prices through the hotel and then when we got there, the price increased. To make matters worse, his staff told us that our ride to FCO would be cheaper if we found others to go with us. Guess what, he wasn't there when we left and the driver charged us the full amount. He had the opportunity to reply to an email I sent explaining our concerns and he never did. We have had to contact our credit card company to dispute the overcharge, what a fiasco. STAY AWAY from this rip-off!

This hotel is located just a few blocks from Vatican City and a major city bus hub, a 5 minute walk from a Metro station (Ottaviano), and very near a laundromat, 2 internet points, and a small grocery store. Our room was in the building kitty-corner across the street from the office (there are 3 buildings), in the section labeled "3rd Floor Best Rooms." Seemed very secure - one key to enter the building, another to enter the 3rd-floor hallway, another for the room.

Rome's subway and bus systems are very efficient, so you can get around easily from this hotel, without being right in the middle of all the crowds. Don't bother with a car!

The room was very comfortable. Nice bathroom with shower and bidet. Window overlooking the street.

Sam and Junior, who ran the front desk and breakfast area, were just great! They made us feel welcome, cheerfully provided all kinds of local information (in very good English), made us some great capuccinos, and helped us move our bags. They will take good care of you!

My daughter is studying in Rome so, a mid-semester visit was in order. Booked at Les Chambres d'Or Hotel after reading other Trip Advisor reviews. This is a fine, moderately priced, clean and conveniently located hotel. Room size was more than adequate and the staff was extraordinarily helpful, from assisting with planning out daily itineraries, provision of helpful maps and making reservations when needed at various museums. Continental breakfasts, included with the room, were more than sufficient. Highly recommend the hotel.

The perfect location, superb staff, clean, comfortable rooms in a charming building. And the cappuccino at breakfast was worth the flight to Rome all by itself. I almost hesitate to recommend this hotel so highly--in case I can never get a reservation again.
