“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

Stayed 1 night in February, very good breakfast selection, comforatable room. Stayed here previously with family a few years ago and will return again when in Rome. 10 minute walk to metro, railway station next door will get you to & from the airport, great pizza place nearby (walk downhill and turn left, 2 doors down), and supermarket otherside of railway overpass.

This hotel is very good. Clean, helpful staff, happy hours and good breakfast too.

It is located close to the bus station, close to the train to the airport and even walking distance from the metro.

Let me share with you my experience with the staff: we were looking for a bar to spend the evening at- they reccomended us their favorite and it was great. In addition when rain started, I've asked them where can I buy umbrella and their answer (with a smile) was "you can borrow one here".

Rooms are new and well cleaned.

Room Tip: Choose a room not facing the train station

Some of these reviews are frightening however it seems more people like this hotel than dislike.
Firstly the staff: pleasant ,friendly and helpful. Some say some staff were rude but my feelings are if you approach the staff with a reasonable manner you will be treated likewise.

The room: Average size (we had 3 in party) fine for 2 persons or 3, very clean and well serviced daily. No bath but so what - great shower.
Fully opening window, tea and coffee making on request. Big TV some complain not enough english channels but your there to see Rome not Eastenders set your video at home for goodness sake.
Breakfast: really plenty to eat choice of cereals, hams, croissants, cake, yoghurts, rolls, bread, fruit salad, pears, fresh fruit and hot was scrambled eggs and bacon. If its busy say around 9am you may have to wait until the hot food is topped up but it will be topped up unlike someone who says if you are not down early the hot food is gone - utter rubbish. Plenty variety of teas and coffee's and chocolate etc. all of very good quality and taste.

The local area: About 100 metres from the main road on a slight hill, some reviewers remark on it being a 'down and out' area, not true various businesses on the road garages, electric shop, community hall, computer shop. There are one or two homeless people who sit around but they do not beg or try to communicate or annoy people passing by, they are not a problem.

The Area: Rome Tuscolana railway station at rear taking 5 mins walk from hotel , train journey time to Rome Termini Station only 6 minutes. Metro at Ponte Lungo about 12 minutes walk from hotel. Buses number 16 & 85 only 4 minutes walk from hotel very frequent into main sights like Colosseum. Personally i found the buses very busy and stopping very frequently and preferred the metro or the Rome Tuscolana service. I purchased the 7 day ATAC bus ticket at 24 euros which can be used on buses, trams, metro and also mainline trains from Rome Tuscolana into Rome Termini but note it cannot be used to go to the Airports, it is fantastic value when you think that only 1 trip in the bus is 1 euro, 1 and 3 day tickets are also available.
Also you can use it on Rome Lido which can take you down to the coast if the city is tiring you too much, it takes about 40 minutes from Rome to Ostia the best beach in the area.

Some reviewers have commented on train noise from the railway at rear. My room was to one side and not at rear but close and I cannot say that any train noise such as passing train noise kept me awake or annoyed me and contrary to another reviewer who claims trains run all night they do not run passenger trains through the night, after around 11pm there may be an odd slow freight train and by 6.30 am you may be aroused by the first commuter trains but you had your main sleep and its a good wake up call - point is, the trains were definitely not a problem to me. There is 1 row of the hotel backing on to the railway area and this would be a bit more prevailant than the other areas of the hotel to rail activity.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely stay again, don't forget some people are looking for perfection at a budget price and some negative reviewers fall into this category, this hotel is clean with friendly helpful staff has a great breakfast and is located fine for getting around cheaply. Go for it..........

We were looking for affordable hotel and this was exactly what we were looking for. Rooms were tidy and breakfast buffet left us not hungry. Location was not problem for us because the hotel is located close to subway and local train stations.

Dear Valued Guest,
We can't tell you how much we appreciate the kind review of our hotel. Located in a very convenient position, with railway station "Rome Tuscolana" within 300 metres serving International Fiumicino Airport, subway stop "Pontelungo" within 500 meters and bus stop n. 85 just a stone throw away the hotel to quickly and easily reach downtown area. Our staff caters to the needs and specifications of the guests to ensure that they have an enjoyable stay.

A tasty complimentary American breakfast buffet waits to wake you up, where is possible to choose among over 100 products, many of them freshly home made as pastries, season fruit gateaux.

We are thrilled that our associates and facility were able to exceed your expectations. We are proud to be your hotel of choice in Rome and look forward to welcoming you back.
In the mean time, we remain with best wishes.
Thank you for your kind words.

Very good helpful staff rooms average size very clean and comfortable no coffee or ironing facilities in room on arrival but both were provided when asked for ,great plentiful breakfast ,only 10 min walk to metro to access all Rome has to offer I would recommend using the taxi service they arranged fir us to get back to the airport only 55 euros for 6 of us cheaper and more comfortable than using the train.

This hotel is located approximately a 5-10 min walk away from ponte lungo metro station ( metro is easier in rome than any other city i have been). I was slightly apprehensive about the room following some of the reviews but the hotel was great especially considering its price. Its location is not as good as others as its seems to be a residential area but as mentioned its price and ease of access due to metro do play a role. In rome there is a lot of walking so another 5 mins from metro isn't the end of world. We had a room which backed onto the train station and to be fair it wasn't that loud. Well at least it didn't affect my sleep but after a day sightseeing i was out for the count. Overall a decent hotel to use as a base for seeing this wonderful city. You want luxury then this isn't the place, you want convenience then its not for you but if all you want is a comfortable and cheap roof over your head then its great. Worth noting my wife and I got a taxi back late 2 night running and it was only 15 euro so not a lot of money really. Also worth noting that those flying on early flights, the hotel only lets you check in at 2 but does have a luggage room.

Before I arrived in this hotel, I was slightly skeptical about my choice because I saw some really bad comments about the hotel. But After all, I think this is a really good hotel and will recommend to all of you.

Location: Good, around 10 minutes walk to Ponte Lungo Metro Station. (around 15 minutes to city center such as Barberini Fontana di Trevi), 5 minutes walk to Rome Tuscolana Rail Station which you can take train to the Da Vinci Airport. (A little Reminder here, the train to the airport will be departed from platform 5). the Room is not that noisy as others have suggested.

The hotel (Staff and other service): Staff is polite. Nothing Special. NO FREE WIFI. 11 euros for 24 hours . the hotel surprised my boyfriend with a birthday cake. We didn't ask for this so we were so impressed and Thanks to the hotel. The breakfast is ok, but limited choices.

Room: very clean. Toilet is very clean. decent size. The bed is so big. Maybe much bigger than a King Size bed. Impressed as well.

Surrounding environment: I think it is quite safe but nothing to see. I think it is a typical residential area in Rome. A few restaurants near the hotel but we didnt try any so can't comment on the quality of the restaurants. there is a local supermarket. THere is a really famous gelateria called Petrini around the corner on the way to Ponte Lungo station. Must Try it..very very tasty! the best ice-cream we had during our trip

Things that may need to be improved: Hotel room is very cold. more vending machines would be great. Need more secure luggage deposit area. It will be better if we can place our luggage behind the front desk.
