It took us forever to find the location. It is smooshed between two buildings in an alley. Yes, the French embassy is nearby but it is around the corner.

PROS:
1) Clean rooms. We booked a Deluxe suite so the room size was acceptable (240 Euro a night). I do know that anything below that is tiny.
2) The hotel was near the Pantheon, Piazza Farnese and Navona. It is my opinion that you can walk everywhere you need to see in Rome (we are pretty active) so while the Spanish Steps and Colosium might be far for your average overweight tourist, it did not bother us.

CONS:
1) The hotel advertises that it has hi-speed internet access. When we get there we are told that we need to pay $10 more a day to get a cable. Fine, we did it. But then for the first 3 days it never worked! They sent a technie guy up once. It wasn't until the 3rd day of our 4 day stay did they offer to move us to another room. At that point it wasn't worth it.
2) While the actual location is near lots of sights, there are some seriously shady locals who hang out near the alleyway near the entrance. One evening while my husband and I were walking in the alleyway of the hotel a scary looking homeless person got up off the ground and started following us.....it happened up to 5 feet of the hotel! Next time I think I will get a hotel that isn't facing another building in an tiny alley.
3) The walls are VERY thin. You could practically kick in the walls they were so thin.
4) Staff was not able to offer any usable advice regarding tours, tickets, etc.

Overall this was my least favorite place to stay on my entire Italy trip. If I were to go back I would not choose this hotel.

  • Liked — Location to Pantheon
  • Disliked — Location to homeless people, staff, poor internet access

Great location, near Campo de Fiore and lots of great restaurants. The rooms were nice and clean, and the staff was super. We made reservations through Venere--- and e-mailed directly with staff who arranged for car to pick four of us up at the airport. Everything ran smoothly. Staff was very helpful. Would stay there again!

I stayed here from the 18-22 May. Although I was disappointed to be moved to a single room (the bed was so small) because the hotel was full, it was the only issue of my stay. The price was reduced accordingly. (I guess when you travel solo you get bumped down the list easier.)

The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and where to find anything I might need. There is one bank machine a few blocks away but it is often out of service, so keep that in mind if you need cash. There are others heading towards Largo Argentina if heading in that direction though.

I was very glad to have stayed in this area as opposed to the Spanish Steps. I found that area overrun with loud, rude American tourists. This hotel had mostly foreigners staying here.

There is a quiet elegance about the place. Although it can be a bit noisy at times during the night, it is nothing compared to the extremely overcrowded tourist areas. This area gives one more of a feel of the real Roma, not just the touristy version.

Let me tell you about this hotel. You cannot stay in a better location in Rome, period. We payed 150E a night and this hotel is worth it. It's next to the Tiber and in the middle of all the sights. One can navigate up and down the banks of the Tiber to easily find your way and it's right near the Ponte Sisto bridge where you can cross over to the Trastevere which is the Bohemian, left bank of Rome. You are right next to the Piazza Farnese, Piazza Campo de' Fiori and a five minute walk to the Piazza Narvona. You can walk to the Spanish Steps in about fifth-teen minutes. The rooms are nice and the breakfast buffet is beautiful, served on china and silver. The hotel and the rooms are full of antiques and the building is a designated historical site in Rome. Now, two slight warnings.Ask for a room over looking the garden if you like to sleep with the windows open at night.Second, the hotel is next to the French Embassy and the hotel seems to cater more to the European crowd. The staff is polite and professional but you will get a small vibe if you are an American. Not a big deal really but it should be mentioned. We loved this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We arrived from Athens, Greece on a Monday afternoon and even though we had confirmed by email a room with a garden view with 2 twin beds (2 women), we were put in this horrible little room (didn't look anything like the rooms listed on the internet), with a view of a wall with big bold graffiti staring at us. The lady at the front desk told us that they didn't have any twin bed rooms with garden views available. Ok, we were there, and decided to try and make the best of it, until I tried to call my husband and the phone didn't work. After several trips down to the front desk, we were informed that someone would fix our phone the next day. This was not acceptable! I insisted that we be moved to another room, which they did. What do you know ... our room we were supposed to get in the first place was there after all. When I told the gentleman at the front desk (the woman had left by this time) that I would like to talk to the manager he told me she would be in the next day, but that she did not speak English so the lady I would be complaining about would have to translate my complaint. I would not know what she was translating, and since we were now in a nice clean room, I opted to forgo the complaint and the translating for that day.

When we asked the hotel where we could get dinner we were informed that everything closes in Rome at 17:00 (5:00 P.M.)on Mondays. The hotel could only offer us toast, (so much for “Room service - limited hour” that they advertise on the internet). We ate candy and cookies (that we brought from home) for dinner our first night in Rome. I am just glad to say that our three week stay in Greece was a much nicer experience (accommodations wise) than our three day stay in Rome.

The breakfast, wait staff and the bellboy however, were nice.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
