Greatly located hostel near the train and bus station. We were able to walk to every highlighted sight within the three nights that we were in Rome. It was appropriately priced and very budget friendly for Rome. There was free internet in the common room. The rooms were pretty crammed, much like most in Rome. There were no lockers in rooms, which is a bummer. Front desk staff had to watch your belongings behind the front desk. The mattresses were hilariously uncomfortable and still wrapped in urine-proof plastic. Front desk staff is incredibly friendly and extremely useful and knowledgeable and can be your best resource for planning your itinerary during your stay.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a smaller room

We were just walk-ins with no booking arriving late in the evening, was just a few minutes walk from the central train station which was convenient. We were put in a door room for 18 euro a night, and we had huge bathroom within the room, I was happy with the hostel and can't complain about much except that there was no hot water coming thru my shower. The restaurant downstairs provides hostel guests with free pasta night we were there, well you had to buy a drink but we ate tons of pasta yum yum. Overall is was good cheap and central place to stay. And the front desk was very helpful too.

I was nervous at first about staying here because I haven't stayed at many hostels in the past. Everything here went smoothly and I would recommend this hostel for budget backpackers who are spending a few days in Rome. The staff here were a pleasure to talk to and were very knowledgeable about Rome and had some awesome recommendations for us. Our room was pretty clean and our bathroom was basic but functional. Not luxury by any means but you get what you pay for! Warning to anyone out of shape: be prepared to climb stairs! My only complaint is that there is no free breakfast. The paid breakfast isn't bad but some free tea or coffee would have been nice! Thanks for a great couple of days at M & J!

Stayed at this hostel for 2 nights. The hostel is located just 5 minutes from the Roma Termini Station and has a great restaurant downstairs. But that's the only good part of this otherwise horrible hostel. There were just 2 bathrooms for over 30 people and to add salt to the wounds there was no water in the bathrooms!!!!The guy at the reception claims was only helpful when it came to maps and directions as he claimed to be a tour guide for 20 years but apart from that he was pretty rude and arrogant.

Room Tip: Please ask about the conditions of the bathrooms before booking the rooms!!!

I've been to Rome twice, and stayed at M&J both times. Next time I visit, I'll stay there again.

Firstly, Mario is awesome. He speaks a few languages and is passionate about ensuring visitors enjoy his native city. He want far out of his way to provide directions and suggestions, and was extremely helpful. He and the rest of the staff were great.

I stayed in an 8 person dorm room. The rooms, beds, linens and amenities met my expectations - the blankets in the winter were warm and freshly cleaned. The hostel also provided towels, which was convenient. The hostel is fairly big. Most mornings I had warm showers - it seems to depend on whether you're showering before or after everyone else. The bathrooms were quite clean.

M&J has a partnership with the restaurant next door. When I was there, they offered an inexpensive breakfast, and discounted lunch, dinner and drinks, which was a great perk. The meals were tasty and filling for an 82kg, athletic guy. For the price, it's where I would choose to eat again.

Close proximity to Termini is extremely useful. Less than a 10 minute walk from the station, you can be in the lobby to drop off your bags and start exploring Rome.

Overall, great place to stay!

The worst hostal I've ever been in my life. The personal is rude, unfriendly and incompetent, from the manager to the employeers. The floor of the bathrooms are incredibly dirty and not to mention the beds...
Look for another hostels in Roma, the exist!! There are just as cheap and with other kind of staff, trust me.
