If you're going to be on your feet for 12 hour sightseeing bootcamp days, then you need a restful night and a great breakfast to get you going! While the location is south and out of the way, the atmosphere and service were truly memorable. You can't go wrong staying in this gem!

Nice air-conditioned hotel! Rooms good, except jacuzzi bath which didnt work, delicious breakfast and even more special when having it in the garden! Lovely area. 5 mins walk to metro! Slightly expensive rates!

We were traveling to Italy for two weeks to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. We were looking for a really nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood to enjoy the Roman leg of our third trip to Rome since we were married. My family is Italian and my wife loves to cook my favorite food so were very much looking forward to our trip

We used tripadvisor to narrow down the choices and settled on the Aventino Hotels Group part of Grupo Pirolli. We checked on the site for availability for the and found rooms for our time frame and "10% discount" as part a 2009 rate pricing special for all their properties on the Aventine Hill(Villa San Pio, The Aventino, and the Sant’ Anselmo) . We made the reservation at the Villa San Pio by selecting our dates and giving them our credit card information on line. So far so good....

The site confirmed the transaction with "You will receive the confirmation to the email address ______@____ It detailed the dates, price and type of accommodation reserved. It close with “If you do not received the confirmation email within 24 hours please contact us at [--]..... “. I had checked on several other properties and emailed several others that didn't have online reservations. Since I had made reservations at the Villa San Pio I answered back from these other properties when I got responses the next day that I had accommodations already reserved.

About a day later I this email from the Aventino Hotels informing me I didn't have a room:

Dear Guest,thanking you in advance for your choice, we are pleased to inform that your request has been correctly registered.
You'll be contacted as soon as possible by email, for the final confirmation.

Please do not reply to this email account. This is an automatic message.

I was surprised and checked with the other hotels I was interested in Rome by phone staying up until 3AM. They were now booked for doubles like we were seeking.

I emailed the Aventino Hotels ASAP for clarification and they made it clear I could not get the pricing I had reserved by that I could still get a room at the full price and that they had not made an offer but rather offered me an opportunity to apply for a room at a certain price.
I indicated the initial wording indicated I would indeed get a room but that the email confirming it could take as long as 48 hours. There was no doubt in their on line system.

After several emails and two days they restated the full price offer and my wife suggested that we check the pricing and availability on their site. Would you believe it they had the same pricing we had been offered and also the showed the rooms to be available at the Villa San Pio for the same time frame.

Be ware of this company!

Villa San Pio was truly a lovely place to stay in Rome, especially to get away from all the noise of the city. The hotel's location is on a beautiful street, and was an easy walk to Circus Maximus, which is not far from the Forum & the Colosseum. If you don't want to risk your life taking a cab, the Metro is an easy walk, too. My husband and two teenagers stayed comfortably in room 279, which had two single beds, and one queen-sized bed, plus ample room for suitcases. The bathroom was large and very clean & modern. It would have been nice to have our own terrace or balcony as many of the hotel rooms do, but just sitting out in the public garden/restaurant area is relaxing and quiet. The continental breakfast buffet that was included was fantastic! I especially loved the Baby Belle cheese and watermelon, and the coffee was delicious. Eating at the restaurant in the evening was quite pricey, but if you are too tired to go out anywhere, it is very convenient. Staff were very professional and accommodating. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and we would definitely stay there again should we return to this amazing city.
