“We will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

My sister and I took our first trip overseas together and booked this hotel while visiting Rome. We were greeted by Antonio and Alesandro immediately and they made us feel comfortable and right at home. We started with beverages on the patio where Antonio took 15 minutes out of his day to provide us maps and give us traveling tips and advice. The service at this hotel is beyond exceptional and we will definitely be back.

Villa San Lorenzo Maria hotel is a peaceful haven in an otherwise trendy and lively student area near La Sapienza University. Classic, elegant furnishings, excellent breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The hotel also has a bar and beautiful outdoor area. Centrally located near the San Lorenzo Basilica and Porta Maggiore, and not too far from Termini Station, there are trams and buses almost right outside the door which brings you into the core of the city centre, the San Giovanni Basilica, Colosseum, and Trastevere. There are several great restaurants and bars nearby, which the staff will be happy to recommend to you.

For me service is king - the service here is fantastic everyone goes out of their way and nothing is too much to ask!
Pasquale the bar guy was wonderful and his bar snacks are amazing
Our room is nice a bit small but this is Europe - the outdoor areas are lovely
If we ever come back to Rome this is where we will be staying - we have been here 6 nights and loved it
Also very close to the trams - so handy for getting around.

We booked this hotel for a week long visit during the Easter holiday. It is not in the center of the city, but everything was available by tram, bus or Metro. The staff here was perfect. I take that back, they were beyond perfect. We dealt a lot with GianFranco, but everyone there is very attentive to your every need. Each day, we presented our map (which they gave us on the first day), told them what we wanted to see, and they mapped everything out for us. We knew where to go, what tram to take, how much it would cost, etc. They recommended a tour of the Vatican that was just perfect. Unless you want to wait in line for hours, book a tour through "I Love Rome Tours". The tour leader was very knowledgeable and had so much side information. Did I forget to mention that The hotel took care of booking that for us too? They have a breakfast room that is wonderful and plentiful, and a bar that is open all the time! The room was small, but it makes no difference...you are only sleeping there! It was also very nicely appointed with comfortable beds. If you decide to spend an afternoon at the hotel to relax, there are interior and exterior courtyards, where you can enjoy the beautiful weather. We would have no hesitation visiting here again!!

This Hotel is a little gem.Our room was apart from the main building and our own front door opened onto a little terrace with a table and chairs with well kept surrounding flower beds .Very close to the centre and transport nearby ...The trams and buses to the centre are a 5 minute walk to Piazza Maggiore. If you have a late night in town a Taxi from the Central Station came to 12.00 € ...be aware that some not so nice Taxi drivers will give you an inflated quote and attitude ...remember the Taxis have meters as do black Taxis of London. The district San Lorenzo has a great choice of Restaurants a stones throw away from the Hotel (the very helpful staff will give you a map and directions). I have to say the highlight for me was the Rickshaw ....a 40 minute ride was 40.00€ Good size shower, overall nice & clean.Efficient a/c and heating. The staff were lovely polite and very helpful .I would definitely stay here again. The Hotel has a Taxi service to the Airports @ 50.00€ we would have paid almost that getting a Taxi to Station and tickets to Fiumicino ....and the struggle with luggage.... We had a relaxed drive to the Airport stress free ...worth every cent ! Enjoy !

The first thing to know about this hotel is that the service you recieve is probably the best you'll ever get.

The staff make you feel like you're VIP, really make sure everything is sorted for you and help you with whatever you need on your visit to Rome. Directions they give are in detail and they highlight routes and locations on a map they give you, always chat with you and will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect.

As for the hotel itself it's brilliant for a 3 star, breakfast is really nice, room and bathroom is a bit small but that's not a problem as the decor is like a blast to the past and you feel like you're in classic rome.

Location was perfect for us, not too far away just enough to be away from all the noise. A tram stop right outside that takes you to the colloseum and Roman forum in 10 minutes (tram number 3) and the other way takes you to the Vatican in 30 minutes (tram number 19). You can get to the Vatican quicker on the metro but I recommend the trams over the metro, I just personally felt safer on the tram and more likely to get a seat.

Definitely recommend for couples, have to mention the service again as although I've stopped in bigger roomed hotels this was one of the best due to the perfect service and staff, and the old fashioned decor. Thanks!

I reserved this room for my parents, who are on their 70's to spend two weeks in Rome. They said that everything was perfect. The room very clean, and comfortable (on the small side). The staff super attentive and the breakfast very generous. They went there to celebrate their birthdays and the hotel administration left a bottle of wine with a card for my father and a bottle of wine and a flower bouquet for my mother. My parents were really amazed with this beautiful detail. I would definitely try this hotel the next time I go to Rome. The hotel is a bit far from downtown, but the tram station is in front of the hotel and takes you to the Coliseum in 25 minutes.

Room Tip: Ask a room with a garden view.
