Having read the reviews for the Hotel Parker, i was relatively sure that the hotel would be sufficient for a 3 star hotel.

To say the least, i was disappointed. First of all, the hotel is located approx 20 minutes walk from Termini station, not 10 minutes. There was no point in calling a taxi to pick us up from the hotel to the train station. To us, being close to public transport was important. The area in general was quite appalling, there was graffiti and a lot of rubbish around near the hotel. I actually felt scared walking to the hotel from the shops at times.

House keeping wasn't completed by 1pm. We went out for the morning to come back to our beds still un made. To my understanding there was only one girl who did all of the rooms. This hotel has 4 levels and about 5 rooms per level. When they were cleaned, it was ok.

The staff arent that helpful, there was one in particular. I'm sure it was the communication barrier but her overall attitude was not helpful or pleasent. She could not even help me when my wallet was stolen. She couldnt even tell me if there are any decent shops around the area. Couldnt even begin to help me with my phone card or telling me where i could have access to internet. Having been my first trip to Rome, i felt disorientated even having stayed at a hotel in the city - lucky i organised some tours.

If you are comfortable with walking a long distance to Termini station, having to travel out of your way to see things, then this should be ok as this "hotel" is not close to anything in particular in terms of monuments or attractions. I dont want people to think this is a 'hotel' because it definately didnt feel like it.

3 star hotel, ten minutes walk from the Termini, basic hotel but it was perfectly clean, the beds were a little hard altough i would have slept on a log after all the walking. It was very reasonably priced and we slept, showered and had breakfast there and were gone from morning to night so it was perfect for this. I would reccommend it for its cleanliness, the beds were made every day and we got new towels. The breakfast was the usual rolls, croissants, salamis and cheese and toast and you could have as much as you wanted. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The area was very poor, being near the station there was a few homeless people late at night but we never had any trouble. It was handy to be near the station to get the metro, bus to airport etc. If i went again I would stay near the Trevi fountain/Spanish steps.

stayed at the hotel parker for 2 nights in nov 2008. the hotel is approx 10 mins walk from termini station which is very handy for the coach drop off/pick up from the airport. the hotel was clean and rooms were reasonably spacious. the tram line was directly outside our room and was quite noisy although this stopped at around eleven. breakfast in the hotel was average. the main drawback of the hotel is it's about 10 min walk from nearest metro station and there's very little nightlife in the direct vicinity. there was a restaurant 2 mins round the corner which reception recommended and this was very good and very reasonably priced. overall hotel was reasonable for what we paid, but we would probably try and stay somewhere more central in future.

Just got back after spending 4 nights at Parker Hotel. We got off the train and exited Via Giovanni Giolotti and the Hotel was roughly about 10mins down the street. The reception staff were not the friendliest, we arrived an hour early but they let us have the key to our room ok. The room was good, clean, tiny bathroom but very clean with fresh towels every day. The breakfast was not bad, cereal, yogurt, toast, croissants, bread rolls, cheese, sliced meats, tea, coffee etc. The first night we thought it was very noisy due to the tram line out the front and the close proximity of the station but to be honest it never bothered us any other night. I think we just got used to the noise or were just so tired after all the walking we did that we slept through it. I'd imagine it would be a lot noiser during the heat of the summer months when you have to leave the windows open. The area the hotel was in was pretty quiet with not much going on but we found it handy to walk to all the attractions. Get a good map and you can't get lost, every thing is within walking distance if you're prepared to walk. If you don't like to walk the train station, the metro and the bus station is at the top of the street. If you get the Number 110 Hop on Hop off bus for 20euros for 24hours it would be a good idea to get it around 2pm in which case you could use it that afernoon then the next morning up until 2pm again.
We had a great time in Rome and managed to fit in all the sites which were amazing. Just be VERY careful when crossing the roads it can be very dangerous. They drive like maniacs!!
If I was ever to go back to Rome I think I would prefare to stay somewhere near the Trevi Fountain area which is a lot more central.

  • Liked — Rooms were clean, clean towels and sheets
  • Disliked — Area too quiet and a bit run down

We arrived at the Hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how close it is to Termini Station. Within 5 minutes walk down Via Giovanni Golitti, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We checked in and found our room upstairs and were surprised at how big and bright our room was. Tiled floors and a large bed with a nice view over the surrounding suburbs. Clean bathroom with a pretty decent shower topped off the room.
Breakfast the next morning was a pretty standard but nice version of the continental breakfasts you get pretty much everywhere in Europe. Croissants, toasts, meats, jams and coffee; all pretty much standards.
If you're looking for somewhere that is clean, safe and relatively inexpensive for Rome, with easy access to the best ways to travel to other parts of Italy, this place is perfect. Highly recommended!

  • Liked — Great location, clean rooms, and decent breakfast.
  • Disliked — Typically steely European reception.
