Just got back after spending 4 nights at Parker Hotel. We got off the train and exited Via Giovanni Giolotti and the Hotel was roughly about 10mins down the street. The reception staff were not the friendliest, we arrived an hour early but they let us have the key to our room ok. The room was good, clean, tiny bathroom but very clean with fresh towels every day. The breakfast was not bad, cereal, yogurt, toast, croissants, bread rolls, cheese, sliced meats, tea, coffee etc. The first night we thought it was very noisy due to the tram line out the front and the close proximity of the station but to be honest it never bothered us any other night. I think we just got used to the noise or were just so tired after all the walking we did that we slept through it. I'd imagine it would be a lot noiser during the heat of the summer months when you have to leave the windows open. The area the hotel was in was pretty quiet with not much going on but we found it handy to walk to all the attractions. Get a good map and you can't get lost, every thing is within walking distance if you're prepared to walk. If you don't like to walk the train station, the metro and the bus station is at the top of the street. If you get the Number 110 Hop on Hop off bus for 20euros for 24hours it would be a good idea to get it around 2pm in which case you could use it that afernoon then the next morning up until 2pm again.
We had a great time in Rome and managed to fit in all the sites which were amazing. Just be VERY careful when crossing the roads it can be very dangerous. They drive like maniacs!!
If I was ever to go back to Rome I think I would prefare to stay somewhere near the Trevi Fountain area which is a lot more central.
