We have just come back from 4 nights in Rome. I must say I read some reviews on here and was a bit put off(but had already booked!) but all I can say is some people are too fussy. You are not gonna get 5* for the price of a 3*. We were realistic and not disappointed at all!The main things we look for is clean (cleaners fantastic, always smiling and doing their best to chat and room was always immaculate!), comfortable (massive bed, power shower) and safe (area was nice enough, free safe in room, and you have to buzz in and out and leave your key). Location was fantastic for getting around, breakfast had a good choice and plenty of coffee! All in all for £40 per room a night I'd say this was a bargain! I haven't commented on Rome itself or restaurants etc but if anyone would like any info please feel free to contact me!

We stayed at the Milo Hotel in the first week of February and cant recommend the hotel highly enough.

Firstly, the location is fantastic. It is only 2 minutes walk from the Termini Train station which I think is a definate positive factor. The Terravision bus transfer from Ciampino (takes 20-25 mins) drops off/picks up at the Termini, as such within 40 minutes of landing, we had got the coach, got to the hotel and checked in.

The hotel is very easy to find from the Termini. From the Terravision drop off point, enter the Termini, walk straight through the main area to to the other side, cross the road, take the road slightly to the left, walk straight down the road and take your second right. The Milo hotel is abotu 3 doors down on the right handside. Reception is on the 1st floor, which is only accessable via stairs.

We arrived at 11am and the reception staff were more than happy to let us check in and were very friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our room by one of the cleaning staff.

Our room (530) was on the 5th floor. There is a lift, that must have been upgraded since previous reviews as it was absolutely fine. Not very big but plenty room for 2 people with bags. As there are several hotels within the same building, you need to press a buzzer for access to the floor, which is a good thing for security.

The room itself was great. Very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the room freshly decorated. There is a desk with a large mirror, TV (limited english channels but i like watching the local tv to try work out whats going on!!) There is a cupboard with plenty of coathangers, shelving and there is also a safe in there.

The bathroom is small but perfectly formed with the usual sink, loo, bidet and shower cubicle. A small criticism may be that there is very little soundproofing from the room to the loo so you may need to be prepared to hear late night trips to the loo from your roomy!

The view from this room is not amazing and looks over a backyard type area but the windows, shutters and curtains block out a lot of the noise from the nearby streets.

The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels are provided daily also. The cleaners begin their work around 9:30 but do not attempt to clean your room until you have left for the day, which i think many hotels could learn a trick from, no unwanted early morning knocks!!

On leaving the hotel for the days sightseeing, you must leave your keys at reception and collect them on your return, which although may sound like a slight hassle, it really isnt and the reception staff are very pleasant. There are plenty of info leaflets in reception and the staff are more than willing to help you should you need it!!

i cant comment on the breakfast as we decided to have an extra couple of hours in bed following a full days sightseeing followed by a late night equating ourselves with several of the local hostelries!!!

A lot of people have said that the area around the Termini is slightly unsavoury, however, i have to disagree, we didnt see any trouble whatsoever and felt perfectly safe walking home late after a nights entertainment!

The hotel is literally 10-15 minutes away from the Colloseum which is fantastic! We walked everywhere and didnt use public transport once, our feet were killing by the end of the 4 days but it meant we got to see many parts of the city! The vatican is about 45 minutes walk, providing you dont get lost or distracted by many of the things to see on the way!!

i would recommend this hotel to all my friends, family etc and would not think twice about staying there again!

Suggestions -

* get ice cream and lots of it
* For something a bit different, visit the IceBar (see my pic) for cocktails in -5 degrees conditions! (they give you gloves and a coat) its on Via Madonna dei Monte. 15euro to get in but you get your first drink free

Very large and immaculately clean rooms. 5 minutes walk from Termini station. Breakfast is included: fresh rolls, ham, salami, yoghurt, juices and coffee. Safe in the room. Key has to be left with reception every time you leave the hotel. Not suitable for anyone in a wheelchair, as you need to climb one flight of stairs before you can access the lift. Very good value, and good security also. There is an internet cafe right across the street, and a laundrette next door. You can also buy hot pastas and pre-made salads from the Conad supermarket on the bottom level of Termini station. We bought a Carta Integrata Settimanale (16 euros) which allows you unlimited use of buses, trams and trains for one week.

We stayed here for 1 night before going on a cruise. Because of the cruise, we had 4 good sized luggage bags. The only negative was having to carry all four bags to the 2nd floor, because the elevator doesn't go to the ground floor.

The people were very friendly and helpful. They gave us a map, showed us how to get to a few places we wanted to see, and even watched our bags for us for a few hours before our cab got there but after we'd checked out.

In the morning there was a small breakfast that was nice. There's also an internet cafe right across the street, which was very convenient.

If I was staying in Rome for more than a few nights and could afford it, I'd go with a more upscale hotel, but for one night of for someone traveling on a budget (as we were), Hotel Milo is great!

About 200 meters from the Termini train station, do you find this
very ok hotel for short stays.
A little special that the reception is placed in th 2 floor, but no problems to find the way.
The rooms was big and clean, had a small fridge and importantly, AC. We had to pay extra for the AC, 7Euros a day, but believe me it was worth it.
Very nice Cafe just outside and across the street with prices almost half of the tourist places.
Will definetly stay here again when we return to this fantastic city
