I have just got back from spending 4 nights in Rome at thia hotel. First impressions wern't bad as the lobby area was quite quaint. After spending a considerable amount of time trying to find the place, our room was not ready. We arrived at 12.30pm! We then had to put our cases in the dining area (which everybody does whether leaving or arriving) and go and find something to do for an hour til it was ready. When we did get in it, it was very depressing. There were twin beds for my husband and I and a single for my daughter. They were clean. But the furniture was old, tatty and very dusty. The wardrobe was not too clean inside either. The shower was old looking but clean and servicable but the water went all over the floor tiles and was very dangerous. The walls looked as though they hadnt been painted in decades and the floor looked as though that hadnt been hoovered for weeks. The curtains wouldnt have looked out of place in a D.S.S hostel (believe me, I've seen them!) and when my husband tried to open them, the pole fell down on him!
There was only one mirror and that was in the shower room so we had to keep moving it to the nearest working plug socket every morning so me and my 14 year old daughter could get ready to go out. There were no pictures on the walls, no TV, no tea/coffee facilities. The walls are really thin and you can hear everything going on in the other rooms.
It is very shabby. The continental breakfast was a joke. A bread roll, a portion of butter and jam and these packs of Bertonni biscuit things which were more like french toasts. Nice for a start but soon gets really boring. The choice of beverage at breakfast was chocolate, coffee, tea or milk which was actually ok. The staff arn't very friendly.
The road the hotel is on is VERY NOISY every night. The italians just sit there and beep their car horns all day! We never got much sleep at all.
I did do this holiday on the cheap as we didnt intend on spending much time at the hotel, we were going to use it as a base but as the weather was not at its best for a couple of days we did end up spending longer than we had anticipated in the room. I will not be doing anything on the cheap again. Just in case.
