“Lovely Boutique Hotel with Excellent Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2009

I was a little nervous booking here because it actually had vacancy for 7 rooms on short notice. What a blessing for us. I'm not certain this will happen again. I'll probably need to book a little further in advance. Very warm and supportive staff. Perfect location for those of us using trains and walking the sites. Not for the glitzy or posh crowd but I could see family travelers here. Plan on paying in cash for cheaper rate. Our room was quite large compared to other European hotel rooms. We had a room facing Via Septembre and not excessively noisy. The hotel is on the 3rd floor of it's building. There is a small lift for those days you've left no energy from walking all of Rome.

“Fantastic hotel in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2009

Absolutely great place to stay for a great price. Discovered it thru Rick Steve's TV show on PBS. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accomodating. Our room was immaculate, comfortable, good size with private bathroom and shower. Towels were top quality and very absorbent !!!!!!!!! Loved listening to the opera rehearsals from the opera house on the first floor--not at all inconvenient. The elevator was small, but worked just fine, after all, what can one expect from such a beautiful, old building!!!!!!!! European breakfast with the wonderful warm rolls and top quality cakes and the best cappuccino, was a great start to the day. Close to metro. BRAVO, HOTEL OCEANIA. Kathy /Bob Florida, U.S.A

“Good Value and Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2009

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Oceania - it was the last hotel on our "Tour of Italy" and it was a nice way to end our trip. The staff was very friendly; they responded to emails prior to our arrival promptly and there's someone at the desk 24/7 which was wonderful to know. The high-speed internet / wireless was a welcome amenity as was the elevator! Our room was quite spacious (we were on the interior so our view was of a courtyard with laundry often hanging, but it didn't bother us as we were out all day anyway.) There was a comfortable "TV" room with couches and a nice television, as well as a small bar. Breakfast left a little to be desired; although the coffee was the best we had - the options for food weren't great; rolls, and lots of cakes/torts. No cereal or yogurt options. The location was walkable from Roma Terminal train station and an easy 10 minute walk to the subway that took us to the major sights. I highly recommend Lord Byron Pub just down the street on the corner of Via Firenze and Nazionale. All in all - a wonderful value, good location, and friendly people.

“Great location, terrific hospitality”

Stayed here with family (2 adults, 7 and 4 yr old boys) as well as a large group of friends (6 other adults, 3 teenagers and 2 other children) and it was a great base for our Roman adventure. It can be difficult to find rooms that will sleep four comfortably; no issues with that at all. The room was HUGE; there was a King bed, additional twin bed plus a cot for the 4 yr old. Everything spotlessly clean, but not fancy. The bathroom was a bit cramped but completely functional - have to get used to the idea you could essentially sit on the toilet and take a shower at the same time but it was ok! Towels were different - more like tablecloths! They were in pristine condition, spotless and replaced daily however.

Breakfast was a nice mix of cheeses, pastries and rolls; you are offered your choice of juices, as well as coffee and/or hot chocolate. Service was friendly and helpful; times adequate and food variety very good. The espresso and coffee machine in the breakfast room is available at other times as well; mgr nice enough to bring us coffee in the afternoon. They also sell beer, wine, etc in the afternoon and evening.

There is a nice lobby available, as well as the porch outside near the elevator.

Be aware: this hotel is on the third floor and there is a very small elevator available. We had someone on crutches in our party and it was perfectly adequate but it is a hike up 5 floors of steps!

Would recommend; they are amazing accomodating for families and groups. Great value; good location in a very safe neighborhood. Lots of options for eating, shopping etc and walking distance to the Termini and subway stations.

“Fantastic Experience at the Hotel Oceania!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2008

My wife and I spent four nights at the Hotel Oceania and really enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend the hotel if you want to experience the local flavor in Rome. The location was great. We walked to all of the major sightseeing spots with the exception of the Vatican City. We probably could have walked there, but we took the Metro instead. We felt completely safe in the area, walking all over the city at night. The hotel staff was great. They were very helpful to us as first-time visitors to Rome. The breakfast included a wide variety of pastries with juices and coffee. Also in the breakfast room is a small bar -- which made it nice to grab a reasonably priced glass of wine to kick back on the patio (not a great view - but nice nonetheless) after a long day of sightseeing. Free internet service on a desktop PC in the reception area was nice too. I much prefered the ambiance of this small hotel (actually the hotel is limited to the third floor of an old building) than that which we would have found in a large chain hotel. We arrived in Rome after a five-night stay in Barcelona where we stayed at a Hilton. The Hilton was great, but it made us feel much like staying at one of many Hiltons where we have stayed in the states. Staying at the Hotel Oceania made us feel more like we were in a foreign city. Awesome! Thanks so much to the staff.
