We'd stayed in a couple of nearby hotels on previous trips to Rome and had seen a good review in a guide, so thought we'd give it a go this time.

The location is good, just 5 minutes walk from Termini train station. There's a supermarket just down the road if you're wanting to get supplies for picnics or whatever.

The check-in was the slowest I've ever seen. The woman on reception was so thorough with our passports that I could have sworn she was a customs official. Honestly, check-in took a lonnnnggg time.

The room was pleasant enough, smallish, but hot in July. I think you had to pay extra for airconditioning. But hey, it was 80 euros and Rome is not a cheap place to stay.

The breakfast was lousy. I've wiped in from my memory already.

Okay, but would I go there again? Hmm, not sure.

We stayed here our last night of our honeymoon in room, becasue it was a short walk from the train station. It was small, clean, and satisfactory. Recpetion staff was okay, a little cold. Were pretty sure she hates her job. There is a small lift to take you up stairs. Breakfast was ok, the usual cold continiental. This hotel is located overtop of a bar, and it depends where you are in the hotel, that affects your sleep. We didnt make out too bad, but we could hear the remnants of 100 italians singing YMCA until 2 am in the morning. So if you have small children, or are old, and need some heavy duty beauty sleep, save your coin. The only other issue i had was thier towels. Picture a regular tea towel that would use for your dishes, but make it the same size as a bath towel, and thats it. It leaves alot to be desired......

just got back from a five day break in rome, Ann and i stayed at the Stella Hotel in 51 Castel fidardo which is to the north of Termini station. ( 5 min walk) the hotel was basic b&b but very clean, our room was at the rear of the hotel so we did not hear the bar which is next to the hotel and is open till 2am. the Termini station is very much a culture shock with numerous homeless sleeping rough in phone booths e.t.c. but it is the best place to get bus tours. one such tour is the hop on hop off. this costs 19 euros but is well worth it covering every major attraction in the heart of Rome, costs in cafes & restaurants can come as a bit of a shock so have plenty money with you. Rome is an awe inspiring city but keep your guard up at all times. on the 175 bus coming back from the Pantheon i began to feel uneasy about the close proximity of a man in his mid 30s who had jumped off the bus but boarded again at the rear door. on looking down i saw his hand trying to relieve me of my wallet from my front pocket, i think he was somewhat taken aback when i grabbed him by the throat and started shouting thief. he very quickly got off the bus. all in all a good experience and something to remember, i have never taken so many pics whlie on holiday. please enjoy this beautiful city but be cautious. steve & ann

We ended up here, only because we got bumped from another hotel, due to another guest's family medical emergency. The room was clean, and the en-suite bath was nice, but A/C was an extra charge, which our original hotel did not request, so we were forced to open the windows. There was a restaurant/bar on the street right below our window and there was constant noise until after 2 am. In addition, the street noise was horrible. Got next to no sleep the entire night. The receptionist was NOT friendly at all and seemed quite put out that we had been sent to them by the other hotel.

Would only stay here again if I got bumped again, or it was the only place available, but it would definitely NOT be in my top ten choices of places to stay.

  • Liked — Convenience to Termini
  • Disliked — Receptionist, the noise

The better parts:
- the room was clean, clean, clean.
- the situation was good, about 10 minutes of slowly walking from the Termini train station.
- the window was sound proof. When closing, you hardly heard the noise from the street below.
- the bar mentioned somewhere in older reviews, was out of business when we where there, so it was no noice from there :)

The not-so-good parts:
- if you spook English to the staff at the reception, you got only a kind of cold shoulder regarding their responds to you. They gave me short-short sentences, without any polite phrases like "please" or "welcome"... this regards espescially one lady. I tried to be polite and gave her smiles, but she was almost stone cold! The two other ladies at the reception were in some better mood.
- The room we got was in the corner of 3rd floor. The sheet covering the bed was smelling smoke. We could hear the noice in the hallway and from other rooms.
- It was no ventilation in the room. When keep the window closed, you could imaging how it felt :)

As expected:
- the breakfast was pure continental. dont expect any kind of buffe with eggs and bacon.
- the cleaning staff was so polite and nice. The reception staff should learn from them.

We paid EUR 120 per night from 31th March to 3rd. April.
If getting back to Rome, we will try other hotel for a change. If we even come back to Rome then. But that is an other story.
