It is not close to Rome, but my wife and I enjoyed are leisurely walk to the city center. I believe it took about 30 minutes. There are buses to farther away places like the Vatican. The hotel and people of the town were very helpful in guiding us through the process.

The Hotel was beautiful, quaint, and quiet. The rooms were spacious for Rome. Customer service here was good. The front desk spoke excellent english and provided us a map and useful information. Internet access in the room was a huge bonus. Breakfast was also very good. Eating on the veranda, weather permitting is a bonus.

For the few people who spoke ill of this place, it seems that their expectations must be put into context. I have traveled extensively through Italy and stayed 1 or 2 hotels that were around 400 Euro a night hotels. This said, I can say this is one of my favorite hotels that where we stayed. You can often find deals to stay here at lower rates than listed. Hunt around at Hotels.com, venere.com and others. We managed to stay here for a bargain price.

  • Tips/Secrets: — You can park on the street if you want to save a bit on parking in the hotel. Of course, you take your chances as hotel parking is gated and secured.

The River Chateau Hotel in Rome

The hotel was beautiful, our room was great ,however did not find the staff all that helpful, would not stay there again. We were leaving the hotel very early on Friday morning October 27th and asked the previous evening for some breakfast to be arranged for us,however there was nothing arranged .We got the breakfast bags eventually on the morning however we were made to feel as we were begging for what we had paid for. I asked if I could have some tea at 6.50 am and the answer was no as they did not start serving till 7.00am, well i think when you are paying 200 euro per night i think you should be entitled at the very least a cup of tea.We felt every thing was a chore for the staff on the catering side. Rome was beautiful however a very disappointing stay at the River Chateau I hope all hotels in Rome do not give this kind of sevice.

We ended up here courtesy of the Hotel Abitart, which did not honour our booking. That said, we consider ourselves lucky as the hotel was great. Nice, comfortable rooms and bathroom.

Excellent breakfasts (make sure you get there before 10am to take full advantage) - the cakes/tarts are particularly good.

The location is near the Olympic stadium and Flaminio - the actual road the hotel is on is pretty trendy and there are some good bars and cafes here. Easy to get into town: the bus at the junction of the road takes you to Mancini and from there it's a tram to Popolo.

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary at this beautiful hotel. I cannot overpraise it. The room we got was actually a suite - and what a suite! Beautifully decorated, marble floors, bathroom immaculaty clean, beds wonderful, air conditioned perfectly. And it is very quiet -- no outside noise, no early morning cleaning staff noises, etc. The desk staff was very pleasant and helpful and spoke very good English. This hotel is a great buy. We would come back here without hesitation if we visit Rome again. One more thing - although it is a little far from the center of Rome, it is a simple 20 minute bus ride, which only costs a couple of euros, and can be a lot of fun. It's also a great way to get the true flavor of Rome and italy. Ask the management for directions on how to use the bus system. It's very simple and economic. They'll gladly tell you and you'll never want to take a taxi again.

I loved this place! I know it is out of the way but the bus runs every 15 minutes to the center of town. It looks like a 5 star hotel and is run like one but for a fraction of the price.
I asked the concierge for a restaurant recommendation and she got us into the most delicious place. She also helped us with our early departure and they even packed us scrumptious breakfasts to go!
The room was so pretty with marble bathrooms, and elegant decor, not to mention the free internet service in room and multitude of channels to choose from.
I booked a July stay in February and the cost of one night was 80 euros!! Which is unheard of in high season in Italy.
