Very nice quite hotel. Rooms are clean and classy. Pick one with the balcony facing rear and you will have a nice view. The hotel is 2 minutes from the river, after 8PM - crowds of teens, tourists, lot's of fun (they had a boxer match organized right on a street one night), lot's of cafes and etc., very safe place. In hotel all staff is very friendly.

One thing - it looks like AC is not working at first (compared to US "wind blowers", but in the end it gets the work done.

Strongly recommend!

I stayed at the River Chateau for business and pleasure purposes for 5 nights in April 2008.
The company that I work for has a good deal with the River Chateau and because my wife was flying over I decided to stay for 3 extra days (and nights) after 2 days of meetings at our office in Rome. For me it was my first stay in Rome and the River Chateau and it was great! In my opinion the River Chateau is a hotel that makes you feel welcome from the moment you set foot into the lobby. Sure, it is not directly in the center of Rome but still is located in a nice neighbour where the locals also go.
Check-in was easy and I was located to room 314. The room was quite small but equipped with all necessary amenities. After a night sleep it turned out that my neighbour was quite loud and that the noise he made was reinforced by the door between his and my room. I requested a different room without a door connecting to the adjacent room and it was all taken care off without any problem. All my clothes, suitcase and items where moved by the hotel staff to room 308. It turned out that the rooms on the backside of the hotel have a balcony. Which is nice when the weather is good because in the afternoon there is still sun on the balcony.

The breakfast and dinner at the hotel is also very good. The breakfast offers you enough choice to enjoy a decent breakfast and the cappucino is really worthwile.
Having dinner at the hotel restaurant is also not a punishment. I have enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant on one evening with my colleagues. Everybody received their main course at the same time and the food itself and atmosphere was good. The only remark to this restaurant from my side would be; "why pictures of a New York skyline in your restaurant when you are located in a beautiful city as Rome?"
If you want to have dinner elsewhere you can just walk down the street and choose one of the restaurants located there. I had dinner at restaurant "Voy" with my wife and enjoyed this restaurant as well.

The River Chateau is located in the Northern part of Rome near the Olympic Stadium and on the otherside of the river which crosses through Rome.
Getting to the center is relatively easy if you don't mind using public transport. We just walked down the street and across Ponte Milvio (don't forget to buy and hang a lock on the bridge). Once you are on the other side of the bridge cross the street and head for Piazza Mancini. There you take the tram to Piazza Del Popolo, tickets cost 1 euro for 75 minutes on the tram or bus and can be used for one metro trip. Once you reach Piazza del Popolo (12-15 minute ride) you can either take the metro on line B from station Flaminio (which is located on Piazza del Popolo) or go by foot because from the Piazza del Popolo you are within walking distance of the Spanish stairs, Via del Corse and Villa Borghese.

In conclusion I would advise this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay here again!
Sorry I couldn't post any photo's since I forgot to make any!

I am sitting in my room of the River Chateau as I write this, using the free internet service. I usually can't be bothered writing reports but I just had to in this case because I actually found the River Chateau here on tripadvisor. Finding a hotel in Rome that was clean, classy and a reasonable price was a difficult call and it took a great deal of research. Given some of the prices i saw and the stories I heard it was with some trepidation that we pulled up outside after a 20 hour flight from Australia.

This hotel is certainly as good as the reviews make it out to be. It's clean, the staff are wonderful, the breakfast is great (plenty of choice, available from really early to 10.30 a.m.). The staff can't do enough to help you. Our room has a balcony, free internet, LCD TV, fabulous marble bathroom with mosaic, hand painted designs on ceiling, quality fittings throughout. The room has a turn down service every night with sweets left on the bed, lovely slippers, thick terry robe... what more can I say. 5 star service at a 3 star cost.

The local area is also great; taxi driver told us the gelateria and cake shop down the road is famous throughout Rome - it was FABULOUS and there is also a small market for fresh fruit and veg and a bread shop/pizzzeria within a 5 minute walk. The Ponte Milvio bridge is just over the road from the market. Yes it's a way into town but I am so glad we didn't stay in town. Here it's quiet and pretty - well worth the 35 minutes on one bus and an MRT into town, or just the bus goes straight to the Vatican area.

Normally I would keep a place like this secret, but I don't think we'll be back in Rome for a while so I thought I should do the right thing by the hotel and the tripadvisor community. Do yourself a favour and stay here.

We booked this hotel for a three night stay last August 2006, through
a website, and gave our credit card as guarantee (only to be charged in the event of no show). Unfortunately, we had to cancel our Italian
vacation and gave proper notice (over two months) of our hotel cancellation. We had no problem with the other two hotels we had booked in Orvieto and Sorrento - only this one! They charged our credit card 150 Euros on the day we were meant to arrive (10th August 2006) Well, to cut a long story short it took us countless telephone calls and faxes to the hotel and weeks to get our money refunded and then they mistakenly credited us twice. They took about five months to point this out to us and ask for the money back, after which I emailed asking for their bank details, to refund them. They did not respond - typical. Having, this month, checked our account we find that they have, without authorisation, charged our credit card again the 150 Euros!! Needless to say we have lodged a formal dispute with our credit card company and have emailed the hotel, although again, no response from them! They have acted totally unprofessionally and incompetently throughout this saga and this has cost us dearly in telephone calls (from the UAE to Italy) and faxes and, now, quite a substantial difference in exchange rate, costing us even more money!

Would not stay here in a million years!!

We went on a pre-wedding trip and stayed overnight to find that the hotel had misunderstood our requirements for the wedding/honeymoon stay. To rectify this, they agreed a much reduced rate on their sumptuous suite.
All food at the hotel is fantastic, though evening meals were expensive.
The staff are friendly and speak English very well and are patient while you try your Italian.
Best of all for us was the tranquility as soon as you stepped inside the hotel. Rooms were spacious, clean and so peaceful.
I would recommend, if you don't mind the taxi fares to get into town, that you stay here.
