Stayed for 4 nights in January. Nice rooms. Decent size for Rome. Stayed in XXL which is a triple. The rooms are named by size, XS to XXL. Looked into some of the other rooms and seemed ok in size despite the names.

The hotel is a converted apartment. Reception is manned from 7am to 10pm. Very helpful. With seven rooms the guys are not to busy and are happy to help.

Bathrooms swish and well cleaned. Very nice toiletries (Bulgari) that your wife might decide to keep instead! Excellent shower. Rooms smartly furnished and in good shape. Painted white and walls spotless so must be painted regularly.

Noise not a problem as our room faced inwards and it was off season. I think that even in high season it would not be as noisy as where we stayed near the spanish steps the last time.

Limited breakfast, served in room or at the cafe next door. Nice cafe, excellent service. Would recommend the cafe. Breakfast in the room was ok, but I need more than one coffee. Toast was only toasted on one side and seemed too much bother to ask to remedy. Had a nice dinner in the cafe. About the same cost as anywhere on Via Veneto and a nice short walk to the hotel.

The limited service is not a problem. Via Veneto is stuffed with fancy hotels and bars which you can use if you want. Very american street (hamburgers on most menus). Not the best atmosphere or shopping but liked it for being close to but away from the hustle of the spanish steps.

Taxi rank very close by the Westin and paid 7.50 to get to St Peters and the Colosseum and 4.50 to the spanish steps (10 min walk). (Taxis irritating, change is a problem, award themselves 20/30% tips if you are not careful - have change!). Got the hotel to arrange a car to the airpost. Cost 50 euro which is 10 more than the taxi flat fare. Worth it for the mercedes, friendly driver and convenience.

Reasonable supermarket in subway to spanish steps metro for essentials.

Overall enjoyed our stay a lot and were quite satisfied with the hotel and location. Would recommend and stay again.

We stayed 4 nights in the XXL room, with our 6yr old. The room was decent size for European standards. The hotel is on the second floor of a building near the top of Via Veneto. The property is small but well run. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is all Italian tiled, very nice, but it did seem to amplify the hall-way noise. I truly loved having an iMac in the room. Each room has an iMac with internet access and iTunes for music. The art work in the room was also fantastic. Linens, towels, etc. were of good quality and very nicely designed. Breakfast is served at the restaurant Stregga next door. Breakfast was very good. There is a fixed menu with yogurt, fruit, juice, croissants, and a cappuccino. Note additional cappuccinos are 4euros.

The hotel is well situated with close underground access to the Spanish Steps. We used the car service arranged through the hotel. For 50euro, you get an exciting trip to the airport. Our driver got us there in 20min.

We just spent Christmas week in Rome with our three grown children. We found a perfect gem of a boutique hotel in which to rest our weary feet. The Residenza Boutique Art Hotel, perfectly located on the Via Veneto, offered modern decor with lovely bathrooms and free internet. There was something for everyone in our family in this small, second floor hotel. (Remember in Italy this is considered the first floor.) We had three of their seven rooms. M (by the reception area), S and XL. The letters indicate the room size. All were identical in decor. The service was tailored to the guest. We just had to let them know what kind of restaurant we were looking for, directions etc. and they were happy to help. Salvatore was especially kind to leave us printouts of things we had mentioned we wanted to see. He also mapped out which churches contained specific works of art by an artist we expressed an interest in. Speaking of art, the hotel is a gallery for local talent. The hallway and rooms have original works on display. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Location and cleanliness
  • Disliked — Room M can be noisy. Most rooms face the Via Veneto lovely to look at, but somewhat noisy at night.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Room sizes are indicated by the room letter. Ask where you are being placed.

This is a very pleasant hotel in a very good location in the City, especially if, like us, you drove in, being on the edge of the main heart of the city.

I'd echo the comments of the other people on the list here. All the rooms are decorated in the same classy manner but do vary in size. We had the XL and it was plenty large enough. We saw I think the M room and it was much smaller, though the bathroom was by no means the tiniest.

It's also nice to have your own front door to come back through at the end of the day.

Breakfast is mixed and it was only on the last day that we realised that there was an actual menu! The orange juice was concentrate and the bread at best average but the coffee was good and it is a nice treat to eat at the pavement cafe Stregga and watch the elegant monied locals strolling past.

The staff were endlessly helpful, arranging for our car to be collected by a local garage, helping with the baggage, arranging tables at wonderful local restaurants and countless other small tasks.

The hotel does not have a bar or other real public space to relax in - it is actually a converted floor of a residential busines building on the via Veneto - and is only a set of rooms with a small reception area. that being said, there are many places to eat out very well in close proximity so the lack of a restaurant/bar is mostly immaterial. If you're looking for a base to explore its perfect.

Downside - food recommendations depend on who is on the desk that day, but do try Truillos at least once, and also restaurant machherone and il brillo parlante! Best pasta you'll ever eat!

Oh yes, if you're tihnking of getting the tourist bus, get on the first one you see at the stop at the bottom of the Via Veneto and swap to a bus in front of you at the central station. You'll have to queue in the bus station behind other busses but you'll jump the huge queue there is at the station and actually be on the bus! Tour busses are a lotterry.
