From the previous reviews we read this B&B was difficult to find. They have now opened a reception desk, but it is not manned 24hrs. You must contact the B&B 2 days prior to your arrival to arrange that someone is there for your "check in".
The B&B is in a street which is a very small hill. The Desk is situated 20metres up from the bottom of the hill. Just 5 minutes walk from the nearest Metro station.
The Receptionist was very helpful and showed us to our room.
The room was small but very clean and comfortable.
A small problem is that the lift starts from level 1 and so the luggage has to be carried to there!!
We found this B&B to be perfect for all the sightseeing in the city.
It is ideally situated with the famous Fountain just 5 minutes walk.
The only problem we encounter was that the rooms can be noisy if the windows are opened. The rooms have AC and so this was not a problem for us as we kept them closed.
Transfer from Ciampino is very easy and can be done several ways.
Direct bus "Terravision" that should be booked in advance(online) 8 Euros p/p takes you to the Teminal and then take a taxi to B&B - make sure the meter starts from zero.
or
take the Cotral bus (that was waiting at the Airport stop) to the Metro stop "Anagnina" 1 Euro p/p plus 1euro per piece of luggage. Tickets purchased on the bus.
Then take the Metro to Stop "Barberini" 1 Euro p/p. Tickets purchased from a machine in station. This is very easy but takes about a hour.
A small comment about the infamous Rome pickpockets. They are about but just be careful and you will not have any problem Keep valuables under a Zipped Pocket.
Hope this helps.
We had a very happy Holiday in Rome using this B&B and would not hesitate to go back

We stayed at the Fellini Inn from 10/07/2006 til 14/07/2006 and thought it was great. We're not fussy when it comes to accommodation as we view it solely as a place to sleep, so if the bed is clean and comfortable, we're happy. Yes, the rooms are small, but you're staying right in the centre of Rome for quite a low price.

We arranged a private transfer from Ciampino airport direct to the Inn and were greeted by Jean Pierre who explained about the keys and safe box. He then took a map of Rome and circled the usual sights and drew lines from one to the next - basically outlining a route to follow - we thought this was very helpful. Reception is not 24hr so make sure you arrange a check in appointment before you arrive. It is also next door to the main apartment block where the rooms are located.

We had an ensuite room on the 3rd floor - there is a small lift but it is only really big enough for one person and 2 suitcases. The lift starts on the the first floor, so you'll have to carry the bags up or ask staff to help. The breakfast room is on the 5th floor with a nice little sun terrace. Breakfast consisted of bread, cereal, lovely cream filled croissants, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee and juice and was enough to keep us going throughout the day.

The Inn is around 3 mins walk from the Trevi Fountain, 30mins walk from Colosseum and 10/15 mins walk from Spanish Steps. The Vatican was around 30 mins walk as well. We didn't use public transport as we prefer to walk and see the city en route to different places.

There are lots of nice little restauarnts nearby doing pasta main courses for around 8 Euro. Avoid one en route to Trevi (on Via Del La Vatore) called Taberna (I think) - looks like an old cellar and there will be someone outside handing menus to passersby. We weren't impressed - it was dark inside and our table was next to the air conditioning unit which spat water at us. None of the waiters/waitresses smiled, garlic bread wasn't very tasty. The bill arrived in a small trinket box and was just a price written on a piece of paper and we had to ask for a breakdown. We shook our heads at prospective customers on our exit! There are better options with on-street dining on the next street towards the Pantheon (cross Via Del Corso) - look out for the waiter who looks like Pele.

Also watch out for the Pierre Cardin jacket scam around the Colosseum/Circus Maximus - we were flagged down by a guy waving a map and asking how to get to the Vatican. To cut
a long story short, he offers you a couple of 'designer' jackets for being helpful and then demands money for petrol. We gave the jackets back and walked.

So, all in all Fellini was in a great location, helpful staff, clean rooms, value for money and we'd definitely stay there again.

After spending a few nights in a previous basic-okay hotel in Rome with my travel-mate, I had the most amazing time at Fellini B&B in Rome at the end of my trip. I spent 4 days alone in the magnificent Rome with a nice room to sleep in after a long day of sightseeing and shopping (of course!). The Fellini is a sweet match of great location, excellent service, smart staff and well modern decorated rooms (I know it's superficial, but I had to mention). I had a shared bathroom and frankly, I felt like I had it for myself. It's perfect for two friends, a couple or a single traveler. It's quiet, very comfortable and safe. There is a very nice terrasse where you can read or have your breakfast. As soon as you step in the B&B's reception, Jean-Pierre is there to greet you and guide you trough the Fellini... Ciao!

Fellini Inn has an excellent location. Rome is huge and only staying there 3 nights we felt like we saw a lot of Rome. Many of the attractions are in walking distance. Check out Alberts Pub at the end of the street and around the corner. Great pub to relax and get a drink mid day or at night. We also ate at an excellent restaurant within walking distance. It is owned by 2 brothers. The restaurant is le fric.
The room was small, but so is all of Rome. Maria at the front desk was very helpful and was there when we got in at 9:00 pm. We did arrange for that, but had no problem with people not being around. The street was quiet and were able to get a cab to the airport with no problem. The maid the morning we were leaving was very helpful with getting our luggage into a storage area while we walked around more. All in all, Fellini Inn was a good place to stay while in Rome.

My husband and I stayed at the Fellini Inn in mid-May for six nights. As many others have mentioned, the location was fantastic - extremely central to everything. We walked everywhere from the hotel, including the Coliseum and the Vatican (though it was a lengthy walk!).

There are many positives about this hotel, but I will also comment on some of the things that disappointed us. As I say, we would stay here again, however, there are a few things I would've liked to been made aware of prior to our initial visit.

As many have indicated in the past, this hotel does not have a regular front desk, and so you must arrange with them in advance to ensure there is someone available to greet you upon arrival. The initial communication with the hotel was great - we spoke with Claudia who arranged to meet us at the hotel in the afternoon. I had read on this board and in other reviews that the hotel was very hard to find, and so when we traveled down the street from the Metro station, I foolishly stopped at the first marker for the hotel - a small sign outside a large door (incidentally, at the hotel address). Long story short, after much confusion and consternation, we discovered that there is a receiving desk BESIDE the hotel, which is very well marked as the hotel entrance.

So the moral of this story is this - the Fellini is now much easier to find than before, so make sure you keep going until you find the proper hotel entrance :-)

Once we arrived at the right place, we were greeted by Maria - having discovered that Claudia no longer works for the hotel. Maria was very friendly and gave us a wonderful introduction to the hotel and Rome, which certainly made us feel better after our ordeal of trying to find the place!

The room itself was very clean, albeit extremely small (and we travel a lot and are used to European rooms, but this one was tiny). It was also extremely warm, even in mid-May. We had an air conditioner control in our room, but were told that the air conditioning wasn't turned on until June. It was over 25 degrees outside, so you can imagine we weren't impressed to hear that. We were able to get some relief by keeping the window open during the day, but it's not a practice I like to maintain in hotels in foreign cities!

Note about maintenance of the bathroom - they don't change the towels regularly, unless you put them on the floor to indicate they require changing. Our toiletry supplies were never restocked in the six nights we were there, and we ran out of toilet paper twice, which is something that has never happened to me before at a hotel!

The breakfasts were adequate - we ate muesli, yogurt and fruit every morning and it was certainly enough to get us going. The coffee was fine as well - they must have gotten a cappuccino maker recently as I recall reading a number of reviewers complaining about the coffee prior.

The staff are for the most part, extremely friendly, though I will say there was one girl there that really looked like she'd much rather be anywhere else, doing anything else other than working there. It was unfortunate as the other women were very pleasant, but this one girl never cracked a smile in the all the time we were there.

One of the major highlights of this hotel is the rooftop garden. I spent quite a bit of time up there soaking up the sun and reading my book, resting my feet after a long day's sightseeing. It provided a wonderful respite and break before dinner.

I did think the price was a bit much for what we got, however, I found out after we booked that I got seriously ripped off, and I'm not sure where the blame lies. I don't think it was the hotel, but instead Venere, where we booked. I usually always book through the hotel web site, but didn't find it until AFTER our reservation was already made through Venere. We paid 170 Euro for our double room, and the rate on the back of the door stated the maximum price for that room should be 160 Euro. Now, I paid the hotel directly for this, so perhaps it was on the hotel's end, I'm not sure. But it really left a bad taste in my mouth when I saw that we paid more than the stated price on the back of the door. I blame myself for not further pursuing this, but honestly, at the time, I was just grateful that I was able to find *any* accommodation in Rome as it had been quite difficult. However, I would forewarn anyone booking through Venere to be aware of extra fees or charges and if possible, to book directly with the hotel instead.

So, overall, I would recommend the Fellini, but take note of those few words of advice above. We would definitely stay again, simply because of the location and the cleanliness of the rooms, above anything else.
