I arranged a trip for my partners 30th Birthday and stayed in the Blue Room of Sergio's B and b for 2 nights. I emailed Sergio direct and we communicated several times, obtaining help and advice on getting there and what to do etc. The web site shows a lovely room, which didnt do it justice. Firstly, arrived at 23.30 and took 10/15 minute walk with bags to accomodation, large tenemant style building with huge big door. Met by Mrs Nocita, the Italian Mama, Elvira, who doesnt speak a word of English, but such a lovely lady!. She showed us to the room, which was so clean and tidy, with fresh towels and bedding and a floor you could eat off!. The ensuite was again spotlessy clean and really nice. Huge 20ft high ceiling, plenty of space and really comfy bed. Breakfast was nice, friendly and relaxing with Sergios family around. It was nice to stay in such a warm friendly environment. Sergio is a really nice fella and very helpful, and i would recommend anyone to stay here, Iknow we will again. The Metro stops around the corner and for a Euro get to Vatican, the other end of the city in 10minutes for 1 euro each. The Colosuem was 10 minute walk. It is a very central location, and considering some B&B's were a lot more money, had pretty poor reviews and had shared bathrooms, you cant fault this place at all. If you are a first time visitor to rome, here is my advice. Get a map, and wear comfy shoes. Learn some italian to get you by.If you are interested in history, buy a guide book. Avoid Piazza cafes, very expensive. Side streets give such good value and service, and more relaxing.Get some sleep before you go, we were so tired, so much to do and see. You cannot help but lovethe place. Ignore beggars and Graffiti, although it slightly spoils the City, you have too look past it, and marvel at the rest of the City and the culture. Places to see the Colloseum, brilliant. Palatine Hill, very nice. Get tickets for both and eat lunch in the gardens, brilliant. Forum, and Fountain lovely. Spanish Steps?. Just load o steps?. The vatican awesome. I will visit again, and i will stay at Sergio's.
